  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Sep 3, 2019, sent to the company Sep 11, 2019, published by CPSC Sep 25, 2019

The product, in the report: RevoAce 6-Burner LP Gas Grill with Side Burner, Stainless Steel and Black, GBC1768WB https://www.walmart.com/ip/RevoAce-6-Burner-LP-Gas-Grill-with-Side-Burner-Stainless-Steel-and-Black-GBC1768WB/55456047

Husband was putting pre-cooked ribs on the grill when grease dripped off the rack of ribs while he was placing them on the grill. That grease ignited into flames as he was moving the ribs onto the grill, ran up toward the ribs and his hand, and also down into the grill.

While it was scary that the grease burned up toward him, that is not the complaint. The complaint is that when the grease dripped into the grill, it ran right out the bottom of the grill body, and directly onto the gas hose and LP tank in the cabinet of the grill.

He then had flames in the grill itself as well as on the gas line and LP tank. He tried to close the lid on the grill to snuff the flames, but there is a huge gap where the lid and the body meet, as well as several large gaps at the bottom of the grill body. These let in tons of air, and fed the fire instead of snuffing it.

Worse still, he had to get into the grill with fire coming from everywhere, to turn off the valve on the LP tank and disconnect the hose. This was made even more dangerous, because the LP tank is physically clamped into the cabinet, so he had to unscrew those clamps before he could move the tank to safety. - All with flaming grease dripping down onto the rubber gas hose and LP tank, and my husband.

This all seems very wrong. We’ve owned maybe 6 or more gas grills over our 30 year marriage, and none were built like this, or would have EVER had a dangerous situation like this arise.

This could easily have burned down our house, seriously injured my husband, and even destroyed our truck. Totally unacceptable for a Walmart purchase.
