The product, in the report: Monument Grills Mesa 200 Stainless Steel 2-Burner Propane Grill
We purchased a Monument Grill (Mesa 200 Stainless Steel 2 burner grill) directly from the Monument website two weeks ago. We assembled the grill and did a test run (without food) and the burners looked like they were working fine. The next night we started it up to cook dinner. While it was warming up, the grill caught on fire right near the electrical starter button with flames shooting down the grill to the ground and melted plastic/rubber dripping (while on fire) hitting the ground. We turned off the dials and the valve at the propane tank, but the fire continued to burn. This morning, we contacted Monument Grills customer support and explained what happened. They asked us to text them photos and after seeing them, they said it was “a damanged firebox and the gas line was separated from the burner tube. It was NOTHING you guys did wrong and NOTHING that you would have noticed right away.” They asked if we would like a replacement grill and we told them NO, we are shellshocked, but we would like this one removed. They said they were unable to remove the grill - that would be something we would have to do on our own. Please see text chain photos for timetable and exact wording. They now say leadership wants the grill back and they won’t refund or pay any damages because we had [REDACTED] come and remove it. This company is a disgrace and this specific product is unsafe.

The product, in the report: Is a standard grill I have pictures of this grill if you need it
My wife and I have used propane grills for 40 years never had a problem with one starting on fire,..but twice the Monument grill started on fire 2nd Time I tried to go in there to turn the propane tank off flames are coming out of the bottom was too hot when I touched the handle ...I was afraid it was gonna blow up so I ran and got the hose 30 feet away and put the fire out I was still afraid the tank was gonna blow up ...this is the second time it happened,..but this time was worse ...the whole back of the house is charred even though it wasn’t right next to the house was a couple feet away. I was very lucky it didn’t blow up on me. I brought this to the attention of Monument Grills and they wouldn’t make good on it,..they said it was my fault and all I was doing was cooking six chicken six chicken thighs on the upper part not even on the grill,..but on The rack up on top,..the first time about a year before that the grill started on fire when it happened, that was the first time,..again I had to put it out with the hose . The glass broke on it too I’ve included pictures and never want to use this thing again,..it’s not usable anymore ...anyways we just wanted a different grill. I’m afraid this one is a hazard I looked online for recall on this product etc.,..there was someone else had the same grill Along time user also,..of Grills themselves and they said they never had anything like that happen either,..theirs started on fire too and they were reaching out trying to figure out what made that happen. My wife and I were only asking for is a better grill or a refund and they said they couldn’t do it. Honestly,..I’m really worried about this,..because I know this particular grill is a hazard,..because I’ve never had a problem like this with a grill. Something is wrong with its design or something on that grill really needs to be looked at,..because I think it’s only a matter of time it will cause serious injury or death if the problem is not fixed, recalled or taken off the market all together.

The product, in the report: Stand alone, propane-grill stainless steel 3 liquid propane gas grill will 1 side burner
9/15/2023: The was in use for more than 30 minutes, when he noticed flames emitting from it. The consumer grabbed a water hose, from approximately 30’ away and spray the grill down to extinguish the flames.
The consumer tried to turn the propane tank off, but the grill/control knobs and tank were too hot. The water allowed those parts to cool down enough, so that he could turn the propane off. The grill also burned part of the rear of his home (approximately 50 square feet).
He contacted the manufacturer by phone and email, several times, and their representative ([REDACTED]) offered parts to repair the grill, but the consumer no longer feels safe with the grill. [REDACTED] said that there was nothing else they could do, because this was not caused by manufacturer’s error. The consumer said that [REDACTED], indicated that the grill had not been properly maintained/cared for.
The consumer has been grilling for over 50 years and never experienced a problem like this. He also saw a similar report on the internet for this manufacturer’s grill.
The same type of incident occurred with his grill in 2022, but he stopped the fire before it expanded. There were no injuries with that incident.
