The product, in the report: The product is used to connect 2 separate propane tanks to a BBQ, firepit etc so that you can extend your supply of propane beyond one tank. The splitter is appx 18 inches long in total and has a y split appx 6 inches from the main brass connection. There are two hoses that run off the splitter with plactic valves that secure the brass connections to your propane tanks.
We purchased a propane splitter for our BBQ in Feb. of 2025. It was kept inside our home until appx Dec. of 2025 when we installed it on our outdoor BBQ. The installation was correct and there were no obstructions or cramping of hoses whatsoever! We used it several times and didn’t notice leaking. On Jan 12, 2026 we attempted to light our BBQ. When we pushed our ignition button, we experienced an explosion which caused burns to my husbands legs, my right hand and my stomach ( my shirt melted onto my stomach ). I have photographs of all burns. We later determined that the splitter leaked at the y connection therefore filling the under cabinet, of our BBQ with propane, as well as the upper grill area. The explosion pushed us backwards appx 5 to 6 feet and the flash fire caused the previously mentioned injuries. Photographs are uploaded. I’ve reported this all to the seller and they removed the item temporarily and then listed it for sale again. Upon inspection, I was able to determine that others had experienced a gas leak as well but stopped using the item without injury. We weren’t as lucky. I have also REPEATEDLY tried to provide a review on this product in hopes that others will not be injured. The review is either rejected or removed by the seller and Amazon.
