The product, in the report: KitchenAid Stone Island 9-Burner Grill, model number 870-0003C
I own a KitchenAid Stone Island 9-Burner Grill, model 870-003C, purchased on 4/30/22 through Costco. The natural gas line supplied with the unit frayed and developed a leak from rubbing on the faux stone finish surrounding the entry hole for the gas line on the back of the unit. I smelled a strong gas odor while in our back yard and quickly traced it to the frayed hose. The bottom edge of the cover supplied with the unit rests on the hose where it enters the back of the unit, and apparently wind caused the cover to move the hose back and forth on the stone cladding, causing the gas line to erode and then leak. The entry hole needs a flange to prevent the gas line from rubbing on the stone cladding.

The product, in the report: 4 burner gas grill
Kitchen Aid gas grill sold at Home Depot. Grates appear to be solid stainless steel, but looking closely at their description, they are stainless steel wrapped. My grates are about 3 1/2 years old and the grates split open exposing splintery pieces of steel

The product, in the report: KitchenAid 710-0003 Natural Gas Hose and Regulator for Gas Grill Conversion
KitchenAid 710-0003 Natural Gas Hose and Regulator for Gas Grill Conversion
I have had TWO of these develop gas leaks and create small fires at the place where the hose goes into the fitting which connects it to the grill body. This is not part of the grill itself, it is part of the natural gas conversion kit.
The first one actually burned through the natural gas hose, the second I found while doing a check and noticed it had developed a small flame coming out of it.

Not said Made Jun 29, 2015, sent to the company Jul 8, 2015, published by CPSC Jul 31, 2015
The product, in the report: Kit used to convert grill from propane to natural gas.
KitchenAid markets a conversion kit (model 71 0-0003) to convert their model 72900891 B grill from propane to natural gas fuel. I purchased the kit and during instillation, I discovered are two dangerous defects in the kit.
First, the natural gas regular hose is too long. It is supposed to measure 150 mm, but actually measures 190 mm. Therefore, when attempting to attach the regulator to the grill side panel (instructions page 6, step 7), the hose kinks badly. This can weaken the hose and result in a gas leak.
Second, the kit contains a 10ft supply line hose which is properly rated for natural gas; however, the regulator hose is marked for LP not NG use, and this kit is intended for use with natural gas as a fuel
No incident occurred. Once I discovered the defects, I simply stopped installing the conversion kit (leaving the grill in propane fuel mode), notified the manufacturer and you.

First aid Made Jul 18, 2013, sent to the company Jul 26, 2013, published by CPSC Aug 9, 2013
The product, in the report: kitchen aid stainless stell gas grill
My 2 year old stainless steel kitchenaid grill had a catastrophic structural failure resulting in a fire. The stainless steel drip pan popped loose during usage and dropped into the cabimet base. This resulted in a grease fire in the cabinet where the tank and hose are stored. Luckily I keep a fire extinquisher nearby! All the tabs that support the drip pan had failed electronic welds and they simply popped loose. There was no corrosion or abuse. Kitchen aid has not commented on this incident, asking only for a “receipt”. They don’t understand that this is a potential disaster!
