The product, in the report: Capital Cooking Equipment Outdoor 40” Gas Grill Per email response from submitter: Model - CG40RBIN Serial # - CG09110542

Several years ago I purchased a very expensive (over $3,000) outdoor gas grill from Capital Cooking Equipment. The dials on the front to turn on the gas and control the temperature get so hot that I have actually burnt my fingers so have to wear insulated gloves. In fact they get so hot that they have burnt out the automatic igniters and even melted the plastic which shows that gas is flowing. I have contacted the company several times about this but they refuse to do anything.

The product, in the report: Outdoor Gas Grill

I’d like to alert you to a defective and potentially dangerous product.

I purchased a very expensive ($3,000+) Capital Cooking Outdoor Grill. Several times the igniters have burnt out and even the plastic coating on the electrical wires leading to them have been totally burnt off due to inadequate insulation between the grills themselves and the igniters. The igniters have been replaced twice but the company refuses to correct the problem. The danger comes from the fact that gas does not ignite and there is the real potential for an explosion. Furthermore the knobs at the front of the grill become so hot that they cannot be touched without an insulated glove and in fact I have burned my fingers twice.

I have had several discussions with the president of the company however his response is that the grill must have a surround built around it. I have owned a few other far less expensive grills and never had this problem. I though you should know so that you can test this make yourself and alert your readers to this deficiency and danger.
