The product, in the report: Broil King Signet Gas grill
I was cooking on my Broil King Signet grill (Onward Mfg, Ontario Canada) when I noticed that the base of the grill, which is made of flammable plastic parts, had caught fire. The entire area around the gas tank was in flames. I was able to extinguish the flames from a distance using a garden hose. , but th grill was destroyed
I have safely used gas grills for over 40 years. I note that this mfg had a recall in 2008 because of afire and burn hazard. Constructing a grill from parts that can catch fire near the gas tank should not be allowed.

The product, in the report: Broil King “Porta-chef 120” barbecue
I am reporting an unsafe barbecue, “ Porta-Chef 120 made by Broil King”. It has no real grease drainage system. It stores grease in the bottom of the barbecue base, near the flame, until the grease reaches a depth of 1/4” with an approx. area of 135 sq inches. After it has reached this level it drips all over the floor. However, multiple times the grease has caught fire. It is a very ferocious fire and difficult to put out. If used near a building or an apartment it could easily start a fire. I was using this in 90 degree weather and it happened three times in a row. I stopped using it after I realized what was going on. Each fire was progressively worse than the last as the grease level increased.

No one hurt Made Jul 13, 2012, sent to the company Aug 1, 2012, published by CPSC Aug 15, 2012
The product, in the report: This is a natural gas fired barbecue. The barbecue itself sets upon a fixed, in the ground pedestal. The barbecue has a hinged cover that can be opened with a handhold on the front. There are 2 knobs to turn on the gas in the front along with a unit to be pushed that sets a spark that ignites the gas when this is opened. The gas is fed through a line from the house, under the concrete patio, and up through the hollow pedestal connecting up with the burner.
During the process of turning on the gas barbecue, fire was seen coming from the tubing (that connects the natural gas outlet to the burner) at a point involving the tubing itself. To put it simply, fire was seen involving the tubing and not the burner where the fire is intended to be found and used for barbecuing. The fire flared up quickly and we were able to shut off the gas before it got any worse. When we inspected the situation, we found the tubing to now be melted. The Southern California Gas Company was contacted and after their inspection, indicated to us that they had to shut off the gas feeding to the barbecue and “red tagged” the barbecue indicating that it was unsafe for any further barbecue use.
