The product, in the report: Its a Blackstone 36 Griddle 2162-2162CA. It was brand new this is my third time using it.
I was using my brand new blackstone grill for the third time. The regulator hose that connects to the propane tank caught fire near the burner. If I wasnt standing there my propane tank would have exploded.

The product, in the report: The product is a professionally manufactured griddle made up of 2 controls feeding gas to 4 burner tubes. The cooking surface is a 3/16” thick stamped steel plate formed to cover the burners, with a back and side splash lips to contain spatter and liquid. The product is well made, has a high reputation with existing users and appears in good repair throughout. No rough edges, no loose screws, all parts are properly assembled and it appears the griddle is capable of operating as designed. With the exception of control knobs which are not capable of withstanding the heat conducted through the control shafts. It appears to be a design/materials problem.
After purchase of a brand new Blackstone Model 1666 22” griddle I connected propane (per instruction) and ignited the burners to heat the grill on high for 15 minutes to season the griddle. After the seasoning I attempted to turn the griddle off and the knobs could not press the burner control in enough to permit them to turn off. It is necessary to push the knobs “in - towards the griddle” to allow the controls to turn past the mechanical stop. Unable to turn off the griddle, I turned off the propane and allowed the griddle to cool. I removed the knobs and it appeared evident that the burner control shafts had become hot enough to soften the plastic in the knob which prevented the knob from engaging on the raised part of the shaft. The knob could turn properly but could not be pressed far enough to pass the mechanical lock. There was no injury and it was later possible to install the knobs upside down from their initial orientation and the griddle could be operated, but with difficulty. IE if the knob was depressed very firmly, it could be turned to light and operate, but not consistently. At this time, I do not consider the griddle safe to operate.

The product, in the report: Blackstone Adventure ready grill with stand
I was using our Blackstone Adventure Ready blackstone grill around 7:00 pm on our patio just as we always do. I heard something that sounded like a metal on metal noise and the next thing I know the entire grill came tumbling forward at me and I jumped out of the way thank goodness but the entire grill fell over and the grill came out of the stand. We are lucky the propane tank did not combust from the line pulling it over as well. My deck is ruined from the grease. So as I screamed my husband came out and picked everything up and made sure I was ok. So he noticed what happened is the telescoping leg had just went up in the leg and it gave. Why in the world do you have telescoping legs on a hot grill that could give like that? This is extremely dangerous. Had my granddaugter been out there like normal that could have been a much different outcome. God was on our side. However I would fix this before someone gets seriously hurt.

I own a Blackstone 28” griddle table with an attached tray on the left side of the griddle. I turned on the propane gas and went inside to get the items I was grilling for dinner. I set a metal spatula with hard plastic handle on the side table. The outside temperature at the time was ~108*. I was in the house about three minutes and upon returning to the grill I placed the items on the griddle surface. About one minute later I went to pick-up the spatula on the side table. I immediately felt the handle had softened/melted and dropped the spatula as it burned my fingers. I had small pieces of plastic stuck to my fingers and was left with painful redness on and two blisters on my left ring and middle fingers. Seems the table got so hot from the griddle heat and outside temp that it melted the plastic handle on the spatula.

I purchased a 36 inch Blackstone griddle with a natural gas conversion kit. I followed the directions and installed the kit properly. When I went to use the gridlle, I ignited it by turning on the gas and using the installed igniter. The hose came off the fitting under the Blackstone griddle causing flames to come from underneath. This product is very unsafe. It appears the glue used to hold the hose to the fitting failed causing the hose to drop off. Maybe because it gets so hot? not sure.

I purchased a 36” griddle surround table accessory for my propane Blackstone griddle. The surround attaches to the Blackstone griddle to provide a work surface. The issue with the accessory it closes off the ability for the exhaust heat from the propane burners to escape from the griddle such that objects and body parts that are near the griddle burn very easily. The first incident occurred on June 22, 2018 when I first attached the accessory. I was using the griddle and my hand was quickly burned while cooking. I did not come into any physical contact with the griddle or accessory, simply having my hand near the edge in close proximity to where the exhaust heat escapes caused minor burns. The second incident occurred when I had plates lying on the accessory near the inner edge - the exhaust heat from the propane burners causes the plates to become very hot and I received first degree burns when attempting to pick up the plates.
This is a very serious safety issue that I brought to the attention of the manufacturer via email on August 10, 2018. The manufacturer dismissed and did not address my safety concerns.

The product, in the report: 36 inch Blackstone Stainless steel Gas Griddle Grill
I bought a Blackstone model 1560 36 inch stainless steel grill from Home Depot and used it first time on 6/30/18. It was scary and a big mess. Lucky I didn’t burn the house down or get burned. This has a front trough that fills with hot grease that runs to the right and into an inadequately small catch container. Much of my oil ran out of the container, on to the deck and hot grease just went everywhere. The trough has a hole in the end of it and the grease runs out and turns back under, mostly misses the catch basin and ends up running all over. Next and worse, the consumer is then working over this big tray of hot grease with open flames a short distance away, right under the trough. If it were to drip over the side, the whole thing catches fire. This is a HUGE fire danger. And since that trough isn’t flat on the one I got, the center fills up and holds hot grease. No offense but this design is flat out dangerous. I’ve seen ads on TV that show a newer and safer designed unit that has a rear exit for grease with a one inch steel wall in front. But that’s not what home Depot and many others are selling. I talked with Home Depot and their only solution is to return it. I told them its dangerous. We will be looking to obtain the model with the newer safer rear grease exit. But what about all those unsafe units out there?? I have tried to contact Blackstone but get no response either by email or phone.

The product, in the report: Compact propane gas table top griddle
My son and wife bought a Blackstone Table Top Griddle at Sam’s Club, [REDACTED]. The very same day they went to [REDACTED] in [REDACTED] to spent there the 25 of July, Constitution’s Day Festivities.
They took the Griddle out of the box, assembled it and turn it on to cook some hamburgers. Thirty of forty minutes later the griddle gas tank exploded burning everything around; also causing second degree burning all over my son’s wife body. She is now at HIMA Hospital in [REDACTED] receiving treatment for the burns.
If you take a look to the griddle photo I have attached you will notice that the manufacturer place the griddle gas tank to close to the heating cooking pam what apparently overheated the gas tank to the extend that it exploded.

I have a gas griddle from Blackstone BLACKSTONE GRIDDLE COOKING STATION -Mfg# 1554. I purchased the item in March of 2015 and received in April 2015. I used it in April 2015 and noticed the top part of the grill was warped in the grease V edge. There is a grease V edge that in the middle of the grill on the end that the oil collects and gets hot enough to snap and pop and get on anyone using it. It also runs over the edge and can get on your feet with hot oil. I contacted Blackstone right after the first time using it and sent them pictures and everything. They pretty much told me that is the way the item is and deal with it by making sure you push the grease to the end as much as possible. Even told me to put something under the left wheels to make it lean enough to run out quickly so it doesn’t pool in the V. If you only cook a few things on it its okay cause you can keep up. Well we used it this weekend and had 12 hamburgers on it. This grill can easily fit 12 hamburgers with plenty of room to spare as its 36” wide. Well the grease was staying right in the V like before right up to the lip and every time you tried to push it to the grip tray it would come over and splat on the ground. If this items V drip edge was flat and not warped I could see it probably being okay. But after contacting blackstone again they will do nothing about it and state that is the way it should be. I was burned on the leg and foot back in April when I first used it and on 6/7/15 with the leg.
