Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. First aid

Made Jul 21, 2012, sent to the company Aug 15, 2012, published by CPSC Aug 29, 2012

The product, in the report: Wilson and fisher log porch swing Item number: JY1107 V# 1009843 Sku# 210020400 UPC: 1452100204009032

I was sitting in our Wilson and Fisher log porch swing this morning. As I leaned back in the swing the bottom support post snapped causing me to fall and bang my back and head on our deck. The swing was assembled correctly and has been in use for the past 2 months. The support posts seem to have broken where there was a knott in the wood. I purchased this swing from Big Lots in Grove City Ohio. I do not have the UPC code any longer.

  2. First aid

Made Apr 16, 2012, sent to the company Apr 24, 2012, published by CPSC May 8, 2012

The product, in the report: Log Swing: Item No. JY1107, Sku No. 210020400 Size: 70.86in, 180cm (w) x 39.37 in, 99.90 cm (d) x 66.14 in, 167.99 cm (h) light colored, 2 person swing purchased from Big Lots

We received a new Log Swing purchased from Big Lots on Saturday (4/14/12). It was properly assembled with all screws, bolts, and nuts tightened before use. The swing was on a flat, stable surface. This morning (4/16/12) we were sitting on it, swinging gently when it broke. One side apparently broke first where there was a knot in the wood, and the other side must’ve broken immediately after. We crashed to the porch, landing on our back and head. It is supposedly tested to be used at a weight of 440.5 pounds. Combined, we weigh about 330 pounds. We have not yet sought medical treatment, but are both likely injured. The swing was definitely properly assembled and was being used in the proper manner.
