No one hurt Made May 8, 2013, sent to the company May 15, 2013, published by CPSC May 30, 2013
The product, in the report: Metal backyard swing set with slide, two swings, a 2-person glider, and a 4-person lawn swing.
My wife owns a home daycare and we purchased this swing set for the business. The problem started in 9/2012 and has continued into 4/2013 to present date 5/2013. Swing Set was purchased on 4/19/2012 but was shipped to us approximately 7/19/2012. Swing Set Model is 46604T (we purchased it online from Walmart. Their model # is WM46604-0412.
The issue is the 4-person Lawn Swing platform which is attached to four steel bars by four bolts (called screws in the owners manual) and four NyLock nuts. Two of these nuts have fallen off the swing three times. In mid-April of this year, I emailed and spoke to customer service about the problem and they sent me out a set of four replacement screws and nuts from Flexible-Flyer customer service. Presently a 3rd nut located on the left front underside of the platform continues to loosen and would fall off if I didn’t tighten it weekly. Just yesterday that nut had fallen off the swing completely and I found it in the pea gravel beneath the swing. Kids had been riding on the swing at the time I found it. Once again I replaced and tightened it as firmly as I could.
On 4/26/2013 I left a voice mail message on the customer service line telling them the Nylock nuts were still falling off the lawn swing platform, that I thought the screws were too short, and they were putting the daycare kids at risk since these nuts were falling off with kids on the swing. No one returned my call. On 4/29/2013 I followed up with an email to customer service stating my call hadn’t been returned, and repeating I thought the screws were too short and the company was putting the daycare kids at risk with the lawn swing. I asked them to contact me so that they could also advise me if I was doing something wrong if there wasn’t a problem with the design of the swing. Again, there has been no response. I think the company is intentionally avoiding responding to me because I said they were putting the daycare kids at risk and they see a potential liability issue. The platform could conceivably fall off the swing while the children are riding in it which could cause serious physical injuries.
This lawn swing is potentially unsafe and I have a right to talk to the company about this safety issue when my goal is to avoid having any children injured while riding in the swing.

The seats on the swings are too slick. My child slides off with the least bit of moving trying to swing. This has resulted in scrapes and bruises.

The product, in the report: Troxel Flexible Flyer Swingset Fantastic Playground 42126
We had several children (ages 5-10) over playing on the swingset on October 19th. My youngest daughter went out to swing the following day. One of the swings cracked almost completely into 2 pieces. Upon examing the other swings, we noticed that the other 2 swings had minor cracks in them as well. Luckily she was not hurt. Both of the see saw seats also broke that day and we have requested the replacement seats since we learned that those had been recalled.
