The product, in the report: Pier 1 stand and wicker swing swingasan

Sat on the swing and within a few minutes it all fell forward, stand and all, pushing me to the ground flat on my stomach, while body flat and face in the hard ground. The the hook end of the stand and weight all landed on my left shoulder blade. Extreme pain though out shoulder blade and down left arm that I was hoping would subside by now. It hasn’t and I just had an MRI and X-rays last week. Still awaiting results. Pain goes from shoulder blade to hand. The only reason I did not go to the ER because I know there is not much that can be done for a cracked shoulder blade. The pain was and still is horrible. I was not even swinging. Just sitting. The base of this is dangerous and had I been shorter I would have hit on my neck lor head. The weight could have caused spinal cord broken neck or brain injury or death. I am lucky it landed piercing my shoulder blade. I’m quite sure this swing has caused severe injury to others and likely death. My pain is constant. It does not subsid

The product, in the report: The product is a swing made out of wicker which is attached to a metal stand.

I purchased a wicker hanging swing that attaches to a metal base from Pier 1 Imports. I sat down on the swing and the base lifted up off my cement patio floor and flung me out into my yard injuring my fingers on my left hand, both wrists and my right ankle. My husband thought maybe I had sat down on the edge and that is why the incident happened so we tested it again. Even if I was sitting all the way on the seat, if I moved at all, the base lifted off the patio and again started to tip. Fortunately, my husband was there to catch it before I once again was propelled out into my yard. Then my husband tried and it and it started happening to him too. We decided since we have a variety of poeple over to our house during the summer and could not always be standing by the swing to catch it from tipping over when someone would attempt to sit in it, we returned it to Pier 1 Imports for a full refund. Even though the staff there told us that they have never had a report like this from a customer, we felt it should be reported to someone for inspection or recall. My husband and I are both average size people and don’t know why this particular product would not stay on the patio floor when someone is attempting to sit on it or moving it slightly while in it. It could be the base was defective. We just wanted someone to know. Thanks.
