The product, in the report: Indoor hanging wooden swing with rope suspension and metal carabiner hardware. Product included a wooden swing seat, rope, ceiling mounting hardware, and two metal screw-lock carabiners. The swing was installed indoors in a living room and used by a child for normal swinging activity.
My son began experiencing severe intermittent eye pain and light sensitivity, especially outdoors or in bright light. After about a week of symptoms, we took him to an eye doctor on 4/27/2026, who found a metal shaving embedded in his eye that had also begun rusting. The injury resulted in permanent scarring to his eye. The product involved was an indoor swing setup installed in our living room on 3/6/2026. My son was using the swing normally. The injury appears to have occurred when metal wore off the carabiner during use, allowing a metal shaving to enter his eye. After the incident, we observed significant wear and gouging on the carabiner from the swinging motion. Based on the condition of the hardware, the carabiner may not have been properly rated or designed for repeated swinging use. The injury required medical evaluation and treatment and could have resulted in more serious vision damage.
