The product, in the report: Porch swing chain set
The consumer purchased a porch swing chain set and he installed it by hanging it to the ceiling on his porch. The consumer stated that the package advertised that it holds 500 pounds (226kg safe work load). After the consumer installed the swing, the consumer’s friend (225 pounds) sat to try the swing and the left chain loosened and broke.
The consumer examined the chain and noticed that the loops of the chains are not completely bind together. The loops have space and that’s how the chain became unattached and broke. The consumer had the swing approximately 2 foot of the ground while he was trying to adjust it.
The consumer’s friend fell down, but did not become injured.
The consumer is going to the retailer to request a refund for the product. He also plans to contact the manufacture.
The consumer feels that this is a safety hazard that should be investigated.
