No one hurt Made Mar 4, 2014, sent to the company Apr 9, 2014, published by CPSC Apr 23, 2014
The product, in the report: Electric Window Wood Pellets burning heating stove with fan
The consumer has two electric wood pellets burning heating stoves window units. The consumer bought the units in September 2013. The consumer runs the unit that heats the house about 20 hours a day and the one in the bedroom for about 10 hours a day. The unit in the main house was turned off. When the consumer went to clean the combustion chamber inside the heating stove he noticed that the top was deteriorating and parts of the steel were coming off (flaking). When the consumer went to clean the second unit in the bedroom he saw that same problem of deteriorating steel.
Also, the consumer found out that the high setting should not be used for more than one hour but this is not specified anywhere in the product’s manual.
The Consumer contacted the manufacturer and they asked him to send pictures (consumer did not send them). The manufacturer has offered four things:
1- Offered to send him the parts for the consumer to replace them. 2- Consumer can get a different model (Other models will not work for his house). 3- The manufactured said that maybe they could send a technician. 4- Offered to replace the same model.
The consumer and the manufacturer have not reached an agreement. The consumer does not feel comfortable with the units since both had the same problem. The consumer would like a refund of his purchase price.
