The product, in the report: Oakford 1125
I am filing a complaint against Nexgrill Industries regarding repeated product failures and refusal to provide a fair resolution.
I purchased two Nexgrill Oakford 1125 pellet grills and, due to failures, assembled three separate units. After the initial failures, Nexgrill sent a replacement unit. That replacement also failed and showed the same issues, confirming this is not an isolated defect.
All units exhibited the same problems: inability to maintain temperature (dropping to ~120F unless set to maximum), repeated E4 error codes, and inconsistent pellet feed.
More concerning, I discovered what appears to be melted or deformed metal debris inside the firebox area, along with a strong burning electrical/metal smell that persisted even after the unit was powered off for several days. This presents a serious safety concern.
I provided photos, documentation, and detailed explanations. Nexgrill initially acknowledged the issue and issued a partial reimbursement (cover and taxes), indicating acceptance of the claim. However, they later reversed course, stating they are unable to validate receipts, and are now refusing to proceed.
They are offering further troubleshooting or retrieval of the unit, which is not reasonable after multiple failed units, including their own replacement.
I am requesting a total reimbursement of $1,300, which includes:
Cost of two defective grills Grill cover Multiple bags of pellets wasted due to product failure Time and effort assembling three separate units
This is a documented pattern of failure, not user error. Nexgrills inconsistent handling and refusal to stand behind their product is unacceptable. I am seeking full and fair resolution.
UPDATED ON 5/6/2026: [Summary of Incident During normal operation, the grill experienced a catastrophic malfunction that generated heat levels sufficient to melt internal metal components. This was not a surface grease fire or misuse scenario—this was an apparent internal mechanical or electrical failure. They have attempted to fabricate that I introduced something to the hopper causing the malfunction and also that they cannot validate my purchases. The grill exceeded 550°F, and based on the observed damage, likely reached significantly higher internal temperatures. If this unit had been positioned closer to my home or any combustible structure, it could have resulted in a structure fire. Additionally, I observed metal debris and abnormal material inside the unit, consistent with internal component failure (potentially from the auger or fire pot system). This raises serious concerns about: • Uncontrolled combustion • Component failure under normal use • Risk of fire and/or injury to consumers Manufacturer Response & Concerning Conduct Following this incident, I reported the issue to Nexgrill and provided documentation, including photos and video evidence. However, instead of issuing a recall, replacement, or appropriate compensation, Nexgrill has: • Attempted to retrieve the grill from my possession without providing a resolution • Failed to offer a replacement unit or financial reimbursement • Avoided confirming how the unit would be handled or tested upon return • Refused to provide assurances that evidence would be preserved Given the nature of this failure and the potential safety risk, this request raises serious concerns about: • Evidence removal without documentation • Lack of transparency in failure analysis • Potential avoidance of accountability for a hazardous defect Safety Concerns This incident presents multiple risks to consumers: • Fire hazard due to uncontrolled temperature escalation • Risk of melting or failing internal components • Potential for injury from heat exposure or mechanical failure • Lack of safeguards to prevent catastrophic overheating Request for Investigation I respectfully request that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission: 1. Initiate an investigation into the Nexgrill Oakford pellet grill line 2. Evaluate potential defects in the auger, fire pot, or temperature control systems 3. Determine whether a broader safety issue or recall is warranted 4. Ensure that manufacturers are not removing potentially hazardous units without proper documentation and consumer protection Evidence Status I currently retain possession of the grill and associated evidence. Due to the seriousness of this issue, I will not release the unit without: • Written documentation of handling procedures • Confirmation that evidence will be preserved • A clear and documented resolution path I am prepared to provide: • Photos and video evidence of the failure • Communication records with Nexgrill representatives • Purchase documentation and product details]
