How badly anyone was hurt

  • No one hurt 2 CPSC: Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Master Forge F500218

I have/had a MasterForge F500218 Pellet Stove, at some point during the night on 3/17/2026, during normal operation the auger jammed (even after following manufacturer cleaning and maintenance procedures) causing the pellet stove fire to spread into the hopper. The fire in the hopper caused an intense whole house smoke out event, melted the control board and required being put out with 2 10lb fire extinguishers.

  2. No one hurt

Made Jan 16, 2025, sent to the company Feb 6, 2025, published by CPSC Feb 21, 2025

The product, in the report: Master Forge 800-sq ft Pellet Stove with 30-lb Hopper (EPA Approved) Item #4976270 | Model #F500218

Our pellet stove filled our first floor with smoke very quickly. The fire moved into the hopper instead of remaining contained in the burn pot. If we had gone to bed instead of catching it and using a fire extinguisher, the house would have surely caught on fire.
