The product, in the report: Enviro M55 cast multi-fuel Pellet stove insert

I have an Envro M55 pellet stove in my home and I received this email from my installer highlighting that my pellet stove should be considered unsafe. They tried to get the company to take ownership of the concern, but the company refused. Attached is the email I received from my installer:

    M55 Fire hazard Inbox

Hello from Masters Chimney & Hearth! You are receiving this email because are records indicate you have an Enviro M55 pellet stove and we believe there could be a potential fire hazard. We have recently serviced some M55 pellet stoves and have noticed 4 units that had combustible pellet debris built up behind the unit. This was caused by the auger brass bushing wearing out and thereby creating space for pellets and/or dust to fall out behind the unit. All 4 were over 6 years old. To repair the unit, we will need to replace the auger brass bushing and maybe the metal housing it is attached to. Please see attached pictures. This email is being sent to everyone who purchased an Enviro M55 from our company, even if we have recently cleaned your unit or have set up an appointment to clean your pellet stove. I have notified the manufacturer, Enviro, of this problem. They only warranty the unit for 2 years and will not cover any of the replacement costs or labor. It is my opinion that this bushing should last over 10 years under normal use. Unfortunately, after going back and forth, they said “No” to this being a warranty claim. Therefore, the customer must pay the entire cost. As this does not seem entirely fair, we will not charge our customers full cost (350-395), even though we cannot turn this work in for warranty. We will charge between $225-$250 per repair. Our recommendation is to not to turn on the Enviro M55 pellet stove until we have inspected and/or replaced the damaged part. You will not be able to see the combustible pellet debris from the front of the stove. The unit will need to be pulled out on rails and the auger motor removed, for the fireplace insert. The older the unit, the greater the risk that the brass bushing will fail but it also depends on the amount of use. We have discovered this problem in only 4 of Enviro M55 pellet stove that we have serviced. However, because we consider it a fire hazard, it is important to have your pellet stove inspected. We can clean and also inspect at the same time. We would need to clean the M55 to do a proper inspection of the brass auger bushing, as we need to disconnect the stove from the piping. We have recently cleaned some M55 pellet stoves and the brass bushing showed no signs of deterioration. I am very sorry about the timing, as we are just entering the burning season. We have ordered the parts from Enviro and hope to receive the first delivery later this week. Please respond by text or email. You can offer dates and I will text or email you back. I am available by phone, if need be. Please be patient as this problem was completely unexpected and we have many units in the field. We also have other work scheduled and we cannot immediately arrive at your home. We will do our best to get everyone on our schedule. Sincerely, [REDACTED] Masters Chimney & Hearth [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED]
