The product, in the report: Wolfgang Puck 5 in 1 Grill/Griddle with Dual Temp Controls Model BCGL1000
I have a Wolfgang Puck 5 in 1 Grill/Griddle with Dual Temp Controls ModelBCGL1000. I have used it less than 20x and this last time towards the end of cooking it turned off on its own which it had never done in the past. I reached for the plug to unplug and plug it back in and jumped my hand back as it was so hot it nearly burned my hand. I had to get a towel to unplug it from the socket. The plug and wire were hot as well as the wall socket.
My boyfriend checked it a while later, plugging it in and turning it on, it normally beeps when plugged in however it didn’t beep nor turn on at all. This not only hurt my hand due to how hot it was but had the potential to start a dangerous electrical fire. It seems that this company did not rectify the problem from the previous model in which it had to recall 27,000 models.
I contacted the Manager of the Warranty Department at Wolfgang Puck, [REDACTED], expressing my concerns as well as the similarities in this new model with what seems to be the same type of fire hazard potential. She responded with an email but her voicemail was even more concerning. She “there is no way, I can guarantee this is a fire hazard”. She also stated “with your unit there is nothing wrong with that.....you stated that the plug gets so hot um it will get a little hot definitely but keep in mind it is a grounded plug so it will NOT get hot enough where it will catch a fire or any type of fire hazard as concerned”.
The company seems to be disregarding this potential safety hazard, even though a similar one occurred, with a similar model just a couple of years prior.
