The product, in the report: Treated electric pellet wood smoker barbecue bbq
My Traeger grill didn’t shut down after placing on the shutdown cycle. It kept running even when placed in the “off”position. I had to unplug from the outlet to turn off. It smelled like an electrical burn (melting plastic). I researched and order a new controller. I replied controller and have saved the damaged controller which is definitely damaged but not so destroyed it cannot be examined.
My concern is I could smell the electrical burn from 8’ away, I had to physically unplug it to turn it off, which I did so because it was running and smelled horrible. It also is suspected that it tripped the breaker in my back room as there are bathroom fans in this room and I had to reset the circuit. When the circuit was reset, the Traeger grill came back on. I went outside to my backyard and immediately smelled the electrical burn. When I took out the controller, I noticed a white wire had been severed from the electrical board.
This unit has never been damaged or repaired and the swap of the panel I just did today, 5/15, is the first time it’s been disassembled. It is unknown if my disassembly caused the wired to come away from the board. I will retain this board if you wish to sample.
