No incident, no one hurt Made Jul 30, 2022, sent to the company Aug 3, 2022, published by CPSC Aug 17, 2022
The product, in the report: GOSUN Fusion Solar Oven - Hybrid Electric Grill | Portable Oven & High Capacity Solar Cooker - Weight 14 lbs Dimensions 24” x 8” x 8.5” Capacity 145 oz It cooks food outside in the sun without power and it cooks food inside with the supplied DC 12v power cord. It is sold as “cook food day or night, sun or no sun”
Purchased a GOSUN FUSION Hybrid Solar Oven. The Electrical function of the product is a FIRE HAZARD and unsafe after 3 uses. The supplied cord does not make intimate contact with the receptical on the tray. This oven pulls up to 15amp @12v and the plug melts within 3 uses due to the resistance found in the poor connection. The first cord was replaced by the manufacturer, but they fail to reply to my followup email with my safety concerns: “ hanks for the replacement, what do you mean about cooking? Most everything takes at least an hour to cook with the electric, and sun for that matter. Is this not engineered to be safely used to cook food to a safe temperature with electric? perhaps a more robust connector like a standard c13 & c14 plugs should have been used.
So if it takes more than an hour to cook most anything with either sun or electric, how is this a useful oven to cook with it’s HYBRID function?
If another one melts out, you should source another cable with a higher rated connection and a more solid connection..”
So they replaced the cord and it too melts within 3 uses of only 40min each. The tray filling and cooking directions are followed and still this happens. This is a significant fire hazard as it is an oven that would be in use for long period of time unsupervised indoors.
