No incident, no one hurt Made May 25, 2026, sent to the company May 29, 2026, published by CPSC Jun 12, 2026
The product, in the report: Cuisinart griddled grill & panini press
A Cuisinart panini press started an electrical fire. The cord directly below the prongs sparked and lit on fire while plugged in and in use. I quickly unplugged it and the entire prong portion broke off from the cord that was lit on fire. It was not an electrical issue as there is no problem with the power source after inspection and you can see the fire started from the cord itself where it pulled apart from itself due to the fire melting the cord.

The product, in the report: counter top grill (electric)
(06/2016) The consumer stated that the grill comes on by itself. The indicator light comes on but all of the dials are in the off position. The only way to shut the unit off is to unplug the grill.
(06/2016) The consumer contacted the firm. The firm would not assist him because he did not purchased the unit directly from the firm.

No one hurt Made Mar 4, 2015, sent to the company Mar 12, 2015, published by CPSC Mar 26, 2015
The product, in the report: Cuisinart Griddler is designed to be used as a contact grill, pannini press, full grill, full griddle and have griddle
I purchased a Cuisinart Griddler GR-4N at Bed Bath & Beyond on 2/25/15. On 2/26/15 I was using it to make pannins. Per the product directions it was normal to expect some smoke on the first use so I didn’t think too much about it when it started to smoke. However as I continued cooking the unit shot actual flames out of the back. I unplugged it took a picture of the burned out unit and emailed Cuisinart Customer Service. After 3 canned response emails, the last of which told me I needed to pay to mail the unit back to them, I finally called. I was told on the phone that I needed it to take the product back to Bed Bath & Beyond for a refund. Beyond the bad customer service I received, I believe this product is unsafe. Flames shooting out of the unit certainly would indicate to me the possibility of a larger problem.

No one hurt Made Dec 30, 2012, sent to the company Jan 16, 2013, published by CPSC Feb 7, 2013
The product, in the report: Cuisinart Griddler
We followed the directions to preheat the Griddler and the PLASTIC clips that hold the hot metal plates on melted. Tis caused the top plate to fall off and land on the bottom plate. Luckily we figured out it was burning and unplugged and no one was injured when the plate melted free, but it could have resulted in bad burns if we had been trying to lay it flat when the plate holders melted free.
