The product, in the report: Coyote 18 inch Portable 1300 Watt Electric Grill. Model# C1EL120SM
I purchased a Coyote 18 inch Portable Electric Grill (1300 watt Model #C1EL120SM). I plugged it in and used it for the first time on Father’s Day since the purchase. First of all, I had difficulties with the “Test and Re-Set” buttons built into the electrical cord. The buttons felt “squishy” and did not positively click into a position readily. Once I got the power to engage, I began heating the grill. After a few minutes, I opened the lid of the grill to check the heat level for cooking. I reached down with my hand toward the grilling surface (but did not touch the grill) when there was a sudden visible spark of electricity above the grill surface, a popping sound was heard, and my house circuit breaker tripped in the service panel. A short circuit occurred.
I both called and emailed Coyote on June 19, leaving messages describing what had occurred. I did not hear back from Coyote, so I called them twice more on June 23 and June 28, again leaving messages. The manufacturer has not contacted me back.
The Manufacture date was estimated, the online form required me to select a date to complete the submission.
