The product, in the report: Masterbuilt Gravity Series® 560 Digital Charcoal Grill + Smoker
The product is the Masterbuilt Gravity Series® 560 Digital Charcoal Grill + Smoker.
My mother warned me that hers (she has one as well) caught on fire due to a grease fire with no prior warning - I guess there was grease somewhere she couldn’t see to clean. Tonight, I had the same thing happen. The grill started as usual, I went inside to prepare the meat, and then I saw smoke from the window. I checked on my phone and the grill was set for 450 degrees, but was reporting that it was around 650 degrees. I ran outside with a fire extinguisher, since flames were coming out of the back of the grill.
Luckily, I did not have to use the fire extinguisher, but it was a worrying experience that this grill can catch on fire so quickly.

The product, in the report: Masterbuilt Charcoal Grill Model Gravity series 560 & 1050 are the 2 models I own It’s a gravity feed charcoal briquette bbq/smoker.
The BBQ I own, the fire box that hold the briquettes is metal and has burned through exposing the insulation. So now the briquettes that are glowing and a fan blowing the heat into the bbq has the chance of insulation going into the cook area. I’ve contacted Masterbuilt about this issue with the gravity feed smoker/BBQ and so far just getting the run-around. So basically the insulation is in the fire box. I’m not sure how safe this is, but I needed to bring this to someone’s attention as Masterbuilt is just saying this is normal. Don’t think that’s very safe?? So looking for someone who would know what to do. Thank you

No one hurt Made Nov 10, 2015, sent to the company Dec 3, 2015, published by CPSC Dec 24, 2015
The product, in the report: Masterbuilt 18in. Charcoal kettle grill
I have a fairly new Masterbuilt 18in kettle bbq grill. Used maybe half dozen times. While moving the grill a few feet the handle broke off causing the grill to hit the ground throwing hot charcoal everywhere. It looks as if the hard plastic handle suffered heat stress at the point the screws held it in place. I was fortunate nobody was struck by the hot charcoal.
