The product, in the report: The 2018 Voltbike Enduro is an ebike, designed for trail use. It only came in black. Note, the bike was assembled in British Columbia, and shipped through Voltbike’s WA warehouse.
I was riding my 2018 Voltbike Enduro on a dirt trail when the frame snapped. This ebike has full suspension, and was designed for trail use. Fortunately, I was going slowly on a level trail when the failure occurred, so I was not injured. The fracture in the seat tube opened up more than 1/2”, so I was able to identify a manufacturing defect. Evidently, the welding process distorted the tube, and the seat post would not fit. The tube was reamed out, and they went too deep. You can easily see that the tube was shaved eggshell thin where it began to curve, facing forward. I told Voltbike exactly why the frame failed, and they told me the model had changed, and the old frame was no longer available. I emailed my photos as requested, but they refused to respond with any remedy. An investigation and potential recall may be warranted.
