Viribus 26” Electric Bike - [REDACTED]
I was involved in a serious biking accident on my Viribus 26” electric bike the afternoon of (6/5/2023). The bolt and nut that secures the front fender to the fork worked loose while I was riding and the fender caught on the tire while I was traveling around 16 MPH. This caused the fender to jam forward into the fork and lock up the front tire, resulting in the bike flipping over me, throwing me to the ground and landing on top of me. I was pinned underneath the 50 pound bike and had to struggle to get out from underneath it. The bike had been delivered May 16th and we had already noticed the bolt had loosened twice prior and had retightened the bolt as tight as physically possible.
We believe there is a serious defect in the way the fender attaches to the fork as the nut does not lock onto the bolt and easily works its way loose. I sustained a very hard blow to the head and have numerous strained muscles, bruises and scrapes. Had I not been wearing a helmet I almost certainly would have suffered life threatening injuries.
We contacted the company and they claimed that they hadn’t heard of this issue before. However, when looking on their website and on the amazon link we noticed that in one of their marketing photos the light has fallen over (presumably because the bolt loosened) just like we mentioned with our issue.
