The product, in the report: Super73 s2 ebike
I bought a super73 s2 ebike in August of 2021. I’ve put almost 2000 miles on the bike. A couple of days ago I turned the bike on in my garage and I heard a hissing and popping sound. I saw visible sparks shoot from under the seat of the bike and the charger started blinking red. I turned the bike off and have stored it since. I submitted a support ticket to the manufacturer, who has no phone support, and have not heard back in 4 days. The controller appears to have shorted out and there are holes in the device. I store my bike next to a classic car, this could have started a fire and I don’t feel safe storing it even with the battery removed. The video was recorded after the sparks and smoke stopped. The picture was taken one or two days later when I removed the plastic shield from underneath the seat. I believe this could have injured me if I was sitting on the seat when the incident happened.
