First aid Made Jan 11, 2021, sent to the company Feb 3, 2021, published by CPSC Feb 18, 2021
The product, in the report: 2018 Pedego Interceptor E-Bike. Model Interceptor
My wife was riding her Pedego Interceptor on Jan 2, 2021 which she purchased in late 2018. She was stopped at a traffic light and when the light turned green she began peddling when the e-bike accelerated rapidly. It then came to abrupt stop without warning. As a result she lost her balance and fell into the traffic lane. Fortunately, traffic was light and she was not hit by a car. However, she fell onto her knees and suffered pain and swelling. She did not seek medical attention and after a few days of [REDACTED] and ice the pain and swelling subsided. Prior to the accident the e-bike was not functioning smoothly. The power seemed to lag and was not as responsive as usual. Normally, she would set the power selector to the 1 or 2 position. She thought that the battery might be nearly out, so she shifted the power selector to the highest level - 4. It seemed to work until she came to the stop before the accident. Additionally, in 2019, my wife experienced a similar problem with the e-bike. When she would come to a stop, the bike’s electronic pedal-assist would kick in and she could not control it. I thought she might have inadvertently hit the throttle near the handgrip so I got on the bike and tried riding it and it happened to me as well. We immediately took the bike into the store where we bought it and they “repaired it.” I think they “reset” the computer on it and it seemed to work fine thereafter until the incident on Jan 2, 2021. I would also wish to point out that even though the voluntary recall was posted on Sept 2020, we received no written or electronic notice of the recall. It was only after the Jan 2, 2021 incident did I do a [REDACTED] search when I discovered the recall notice. If purchasers of the product do not receive adequate notice of the recall, the recall is worthless. The manufacture had all of our personal information to notify us and failed to do so.

No one hurt Made Jul 6, 2020, sent to the company Jul 27, 2020, published by CPSC Aug 10, 2020
The product, in the report: Pedego Interceptor electric bicycle. **This company has had previous recalls with CPSC** MOdel Interceptor
My Pedego electric bicycle motor activates when it should not. Technical Support called this a “surge”. My bicycle “surges” toward pedestrians on the bicycle path, motor vehicles in motion on the street, etc. Pedego Technical Support has identified the issue as a faulty wiring harness, but a recall has not been issued. I attempted to post a notice online, but Pedego corporate deleted my comment as if they don’t want anyone to be aware of this safety problem. I have extensively documented this ongoing intermittent issue and have video if you are interested.
