The reports, as CPSC published them
Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.
Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Feb 1, 2022, sent to the company Feb 18, 2022, published by CPSC Mar 7, 2022
The product, in the report: 50 lbs, Electric Bicycle
5/23/2021: The consumer got on the bike and pushed the button for the motor to be turned off. Then he placed his foot on the pedal and the bike sped off. The consumer fell off of the bike and it landed on him.
The 75 year old, consumer sustained bruises to both legs and a severe gash to his left leg. He went to the doctor and was told the injury would have to heal on its own. The consumer also sustained a swollen ankle.
He walked the bike to a local bike shop. The bike tech (name unavailable) examined it and told him that the electronic control was not working and the gear was jammed in the highest speed. The tech. said he could adjust the gear speed, but could not fix the motor, as it was not working.
5/24/2021: The consumer contacted the retailer and was advised to mail it back to them.
5/25/2021: He took the bike to the UPS Store and it cost him $340.00, to mail the 50 lbs, bike back. The consumer called the dealer and was told that they would give him a refund. The consumer was sent $20 by Amazon, but never sent the $340 shipping cost for the bike itself. The consumer had to cancel the purchase on his credit card to get the cost of the bike back. He has gone back & forth several months, without getting a refund for the shipping cost. He’s been referred back and for between Amazon and the actual seller on their site.
The consumer went on to say that the bike was misrepresented. The bike he received had racing handles and a racing seat, but the one he viewed on their site did not.
At one point, the firm’s rep. (name unavailable) told the consumer that the gears may have been damaged in shipping or could have been broken. However, the consumer pointed out that the bike was extremely well packaged and he did not believe it was damaged in shipping.
The Motor # 36V-10AH, is written on the bicycle’s motor.

No incident, no one hurt Made Aug 2, 2021, sent to the company Aug 23, 2021, published by CPSC Sep 7, 2021
The product, in the report: Ecotric Vortex e-bike
I purchased an e-bike (model “Vortex”) from www.ecotric.com (Oakland, California) and the left and right brake levers are reversed (left on rear wheel). I believe this is unlawful per CPSC regulations. I wrote the manufacturer/seller and they responded that I should correct this myself as this is how the bike is delivered to the customer. This response email is attached to this report.
