  1. Hurt, care not known

Made May 25, 2014, sent to the company Jun 9, 2014, published by CPSC Jun 30, 2014

The product, in the report: Gladiator 4 person towable tube (http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Gladiator-Great-Big-Brawler-4-Person-Towable-Tube&i=16844)

We were towing three people on a gladiator brawler 4 person tube (http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Gladiator-Great-Big-Brawler-4-Person-Towable-Tube&i=16844) behind a sport boat. We had a mother and her two year old on the tube. At low speeds (no wake ~2 MPH) the front of the tube got sucked under water. The mother and child slid forward as it got sucked under water and got stuck under the tube for about 30 seconds as we tried to stop and the tube then slowly slid over them. Both were fine, but inhaled some water. Had they gotten wrapped around the tow line it could have been much worse.

I’ve never seen a tube behave this way before, but have since tested it at low speeds with no one on it and found it to be very repeatable.
