The product, in the report: Base wall heating
Product: Electric baseboard heater (oil-filled / hydronic type) Brand: Cadet SoftHeat Model: EBHA1000-24
Incident description:
On the early morning of 13th December 2025, the Cadet SoftHeat electric baseboard heater (model EBHA1000-24) experienced a sudden failure while operating normally. The unit ruptured and began forcefully expelling a large volume of hot vapor and liquid from the heater enclosure. The discharge appeared as dense white vapor resembling steam and continued for a short period.
The heater is an electric, sealed unit and is not connected to any household water supply. The expelled substance appeared to be the internal heat-transfer fluid rapidly vaporizing after the failure.
The event was sudden and violent in nature and caused significant concern for fire and burn risk. Power to the heater circuit was immediately shut off at the breaker. The heater was rendered inoperable and cannot be safely used.
There were no injuries, but the incident created a serious safety hazard due to the release of hot vapor and liquid inside a living space. Ventilation was required to clear the air after the failure.
