The product, in the report: White-Rogers Gemini Gas Valve Model 36G24 Type 205

I have an American Standard Furnace model number TXC042C4HPC0 S/N 5222XXY5G I awoke in the morning to a cold home but the furnace was on. I felt over a vent only to feel cold air being pushed by the fan. I went into the utility room to the smell of burnt plastic. I noticed the drain hose that runs long the top of the unit was melted. I shut off power to the unit and opened up the front panel. What I saw was all four burners still lit with flames coming out of the manifold burning the top of the unit. The limiter wires which ran over the top of the right most burner has been burned up by the flames. I immediately shut off the gas at the valve. What I discovered is the gas valve a “Gemini” model 36G24 Type 205 had stuck in a “Open” position which was dangerous. Gas Valve SN: TRANE C341949P01. These valves are supposed to be designed to fail “close”. Had it not been for luck that I choose to go to work late this could have burned down my house. I called a local HVAC company and we were able to test and replicate the problem. The manufacturer the technician contacted recommended we replace the valve. These Gemini gas valves are dangerous and should be recalled.
