The product, in the report: Gas fired boiler in the basement manufactured by Weil-Mclain Inc. and installed professionally by Robbins Air Inc..
The Weil_mclain gas boiler in my house has a serious defect or design flaw. The cover plate on the heat exchanger warped and the seal was missing letting the flame burn a hole thru the outside exterior cover. This condition could have caused the house to burn down or worse! I contacted the manufacture and they refused to reimburse me for the repair stating the maintenance was not performed to prevent this disaster. .

No one hurt Made Mar 28, 2017, sent to the company Jul 18, 2017, published by CPSC Aug 1, 2017
The product, in the report: Gas Boiler 1/17/20015 - Original purchase date.
A routine inspection was performed 01/30/2017. The carbon monoxide testing came back with emissions of forty parts per million. The installer contacted the Manufacturer and was informed that this specific boiler was not recalled. The Manufacturer advised the consumer to install a gasket or replace the induction motor.
03/27/2017 - The gasket was replaced at the expense of the consumer. The carbon monoxide testing performed came back with emissions of twenty parts per million. The installer informed the consumer that he could replace the induction motor however there was no guarantee that this would solve the problem. The induction motor would cost the consumer approximately nine-hundred dollars. The consumer’s other option would be to replace the entire boiler.
03/28/2017 - The consumer contacted the Manufacturer and left a voice message.
The consumer is unsure if he will have the unit for at least the next thirty days.
Update to Report Number 20170328-41583-1648955
3/28/2017-The Manufacturer, Weii-Mclain, 500 Blaine Street, Michigan City, IN 46360-2388, confirmed that there are no recalls on this boiler model with this serial number.
3/29/2017-The consumer called the Manufacturer Warranty Number at 1-800-654-2109. The boiler is not under warranty for replacement parts.
4/19/2017- The installer, Reimer Home Services,255 Fire Tower Drive, Tonawanda, NV 14150 (716- 694-8524) agreed to install a new inducer motor at dealer cost, approximately $500, rather than the retail cost.
4/26/2017 -New inducer motor installed. CO monitor recorded zero CO levels during unit operation.
Cost of inducer motor to consumer was $553.54 including tax plus the cost of the gasket replaced on 3/27/2017 for $164.21. Total cost was $717.75.
BOTTOM LINE- The CO leak was mainly due to the erosion of the original caulking material which is an integral part of the inducer motor. This material is found where the inducer motor exhaust connects with the venting system. Additionally, the inducer motor gasket also loses its effectiveness over time. Manufacturer has not issued any warnings to consumers that this will occur over time due to NORMAL OPERATION of the boiler. This is a critical safety issue for all users of this product and can potentially lead to CO buildup in residences.

Hurt, no treatment Made May 11, 2016, sent to the company May 19, 2016, published by CPSC Jun 3, 2016
The product, in the report: Weil Mclain Ulter 2 Boiler 105
I have Weil McClain Boiler installed last year by the local Contractor Plumber. Plumber is no longer in business. I have called the Company Weil Mcclain several times requesting help with gas leak but no reply. I have filed a complaint on BBB and some one reached out to me and said that they will contact me. Its been over a Month and I have yet to hear from some one. Every time the Boiler comes on I smell Gas. So I end up turning the boiler off. Its been off for several weeks and I have not heard back from the company. Last month due to MI cold weather I turned the boiler on and the Gas smell was really bad. I end up turning it off, While I was turning it off I heard a Bang and the boiler cover come off flying, I end up walking away with Minor Injury on my leg with not major issues at all.
I need help to get my Boiler repaired. Not sure how to reach out the Company. Thanks for your time. [REDACTED]
