  1. No one hurt

Made Nov 14, 2011, sent to the company Nov 22, 2011, published by CPSC Dec 7, 2011

The product, in the report: There are two systems, identical in specs.....Venmar Constructo 2.0 Serial No. 9S 06 000728989 45110 Made in Canada Volts 120 Watts 240 HZ60 Amps 21 Purchased on around Mar 2001

I believe my Venmar Constructo 2.0 may be defective and a definite fire hazard...apparently the motor has seized and is too hot to touch, as reported by the service man today. It is 10 years old. It was installed by Enbridge and we are not sure it ever worked efficiently, but started asking questions finally when we discovered that the intake vents were totally clogged...and NEVER cleaned by companies every year, particularly for the last four years. I am now wondering where I can find a second opinion because I am leary of replacing the motor without verifying that indeed the motor has seized...( we have two systems and when the second system was checked he said the same thing about the motor, but the words were hardly out of his mouth when the system came on! We went back to the first system, but it actually would not start.

He also initially said the second system was too hot to touch and if so, I am wondering whether it is about to go as the first one apparently has gone. FYI he pushed what I believe is a white reset button on both systems and it seemed to work on the second, albeit a few seconds delayed.

So what is my next move before I spend an inordinate amount of money, gladly so, if the equipment is unsafe, but also wondering why a 10 year old motor on these systems would fail....I read somewhere that they can run for several years without having to be serviced.
