The product, in the report: SPT Mini Dehumidifier Model: SD-652
Bought the SPT Mini Dehumidifier Model: SD-652 circa September 2012. The unit was used almost daily from November until February 2013 during the day only. It was used in a small bedroom closet during this time. On February 7, 2013 the unit would not turn on. After close examination it was discovered that the plug that inserts into the unit had “shorted” causing the rubber/plastic of the plug to melt onto one of the prongs. The plastic around one of the holes on the plug was melted and blistered. There were no injuries or fire damage cause by the unit. It was always used in a safe manor and in a dry closet. In fact, it was rarely moved other than emptying the water tank which would take well over a week to fill halfway. It should also be noted that during the last month to month and a half of use, I did notice the motor running louder than usual when first turned on. However, after several minutes, the motor would resume its normal sounds.
