The product, in the report: Edgestar Dehumidifier with drain pump, model# DEP701WP, Manufactured in China. White, top controls, 70 pint capacity, 14.5” wide x 23” high, including wheels, x 10 1/2” deep. Weight: approximately 45 pounds, 115 volts. Cost: $239.
Purchased Edgestar Dehumidifier, model DEP701WP, in late August of 2017 for home use in basement. Controls were set for continuous automatic thermostat operation. On November 11, 2017, I found seven pieces (3” x 11/16”) and fragments of the fan blades on the basement floor; they had been forcefully expelled from the top vents of the dehumidifier as the fan decomposed. If I had been near the unit when it happened, it could have resulted in an eye injury or facial damage as the controls are located on the top of the dehumidifier near the fan vents. Addditional pieces of the fan blade broke off but remained inside the dehumidifier.
