The product, in the report: Safety 1st brand Ultrasonic 360 Humidifier (blue). Model #49292 Date:110110 Offers 12 hours of quiet mist control through two outlets with an auto shut-off feature.
The Safety1st brand Ultrasonic 360 Humidifier was purchased, in blue, for my son last year. It was used off and on for about 14 months. Proper cleaning and care was taken. It soothed my son to sleep many times as he needed the humidity. On the morning of September 25, 2012 I noticed a sickening sweet smell coming from my sons room. I figured it was the humidifier because sometimes it would make the air chalky, but this was different. I also noted that the green light was on but the chamber of water was empty. I turned it off and immediately aired out the room and checked on my son.
The product malfunctioned. Somehow the “auto shut-off” mechanism was not triggered. The bottom of the chamber was tinted brown. The black portion of the center well fell and melted through the bottom of the whole thing. My home has this invading smell from the plastic. The fumes emitted from the melting are not pleasant.
