The product, in the report: it is a humidifier

we have had a humidifier from sunbeam for some time, one night my kid woke up at night saying that there is a weird smell in the room, when I went to check it out I found that the humidifier was smoking, so I picked it up and took it to the bathroom. usually when the water runs out of it, it will light a yellow light and turn off, but this time it didn’t and kept working so it started melting. I found that a metal piece has fell out of it into the carpet and melted part of the carpet, and part of the device has melted too and was about to get to the electrical wires. I had to open the windows of the home and I took my other kid out of her crib to our room, and she didn’t wake up until a couple of minutes after that, she was sleeping close to the humidifier and if a fire started, it would have caused severe damage to her.

About 1 am in the morning my 3 year old daughter woke up crying and screaming. I ran to her bedroom only to find the Sunbeam SWM-5251 humidifier was on fire with flames about 2 feet high. My wife was right behind me,she grabbed her I unplugged the unit and ran for an extinguisher and put it out. We bought it at Walmart about 2.5 years ago and only used it a few times when she was sick. It melted a large hole into the carpet and itself, filed reports with the local fire department and an attorney.
