Hurt, no treatment Made Nov 14, 2021, sent to the company Nov 16, 2021, published by CPSC Dec 1, 2021
The product, in the report: Mafiti brand ultrasonic humidifier product number MH300 Voltage 100-240V Rated frequency 50hz Rated capacity 4.8l Rated humidification capacity 280-350mL/h
After using as directed for two days, this humidifier suddenly began shorting out, lights blinking rapidly, and water began pouring from the underside of the base. I attempted to use the dial on the front to turn it off and was met with a mild electric shock. Upon inspection, the internal wiring had the safety coatings melted off and there are blackened plastic pieces inside the electrical compartment. The filter holder area has a small previously round vent hole that is now melted and distorted, and the whole base stinks of electrical fire. Had I not been literally next to it when this happened, or god forbid been away from the house, I’d have likely lost my home and pet birds. Had it been in my son’s room, he’d have innocently played in the water gushing out and been electrocuted.
