The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Jun 28, 2017, sent to the company Jul 7, 2017, published by CPSC Jul 28, 2017

The product, in the report: Hot Headz Products hand held Cool Downz Personal Water Mister, red and clear plastic. Pump on the bottom, water nozzle on the top.

We purchased the Hot Headz Personal Water Mister on 6/25/17. We used the mister that day. During the night, the mister was placed on the nightstand and exploded. After a loud noise, shards of jagged plastic flew all over the room and bounced off the walls. I have a photograph of the pieces. Prior to the explosion, it had been a few hours since the mister was used or touched.

The mister works by pumping the device to cause pressure, and then pressing the button releases a fine mist. The product worked throughout the afternoon. No one was hurt, but someone definitely could have been.

I have photos of the plastic shards and the packaging labels, but am unable to upload to this report.
