The product, in the report: Model number MC30WP/01 Thermador 30-inch Single Speed Oven
My built-in Thermador 30-inch Single Speed Oven, Model number MC30WP/01, suffered a structural failure where the inner door glass pane shattered spontaneously while completely cold and idle. My appliance was used normally on June 27, 2026, and sat untouched for one week until I discovered the shattered glass upon opening the door on July 4, 2026. No physical injuries occurred to me or anyone in my home because the failure happened while the unit was idle and was discovered while it was turned off. However, a severe safety hazard now exists because the destroyed inner glass serves as a critical radiation shield, meaning any future use of the microwave function poses a severe risk of microwave radiation leakage and potential injury to my family.

The product, in the report: Thermador over model MED302JS/03
My Thermador oven will switch itself from “bake” to “broil” mode at random times. If you are baking something for an hour and it becomes an hour of broiling, this can create a fire. All major components were replaced twice by the manufacturer which corrects the issue for about 2 years. The third time it has started happening again, they refuse to repair or permanently fix.

The product, in the report: Thermador Mdl. PRD366JGU/04-FD940300011
We were running our oven through the self clean cycle and the oven made a lowed shrill sound (like air escaping) and then exploded with a bang like thunder. Glass pebbles poured out of the closed oven door. The heat went off and the oven went through its normal cool down cycle and unlocked the door.

The product, in the report: Stainless steel thermador dual oven model number SCD272T
We had a horrible experience with our Thermador oven. Our upper oven exploded during the self-clean cycle. I called Thermador customer support and they explained the situation. The customer support stated that they will solely cover the diagnostic but will not cover anything further as this oven is out of warranty. I am surprised that Thermador would not take the safely of their oven seriously and work to ensure that the glass in the oven is working as it is intended throughout the entire life of the oven. I was told that because my oven is over 12 years old it is not Thermador’s responsibility. I would think that Thermador would want to continue giving the best customer service experience and stand by their products no matter their age. Exploding ovens is not something that a company should be proud of, and not something a consumer expects.

The product, in the report: Built-In Oven
The following information was taken from emails and attachments to submit an incident report.
The consumer stated that he has a recalled Thermador oven (recall # 07-228) that he purchased in March 2007 for $4399. The oven was installed in August 2007. The recall on the unit was issued in June 2007. The consumer stated that he made a first call for repair on the unit (few months after installation) after the unit was used in self-clean mode. The unit was still under warranty. While the company that provided the repair service does not have record of the repair due to age, the consumer stated that Thermador does have this information.
The consumer provided the following information: “The last repairman here was [REDACTED] from Appliance Care in Polson, Mt. [REDACTED] He had spoken with a Thermadore engineer prior to his last effort when he replaced the ‘harness’, hoping that would work. It did not. His next attempt would be a $700 gamble. We have already spent over $1000 in repair and felt like another $700 could be a futile and too expensive thing to try. I then started researching a replacement, and that is when I discovered the recall and called Thermadore. They then gave me a service call # to use, and told me to call an authorized repairman and they would take care of it. I explained that we have had numerous repairs, and that I would like to speak with a supervisor. They put me in touch with [REDACTED]. I explained the dilemma, and she politely agreed that was way too many service calls and asked for copies of original receipt and repair invoices. I was hopeful. I later received a phone call saying the board had denied any responsibility. [REDACTED]’s email is: [REDACTED} Her direct phone # is [REDACTED] We purchased the unit (along with other Thermadore products) at Vann’s in Kalispell, Mt. They, unfortunately for us, are no longer in business.”
In a separate e-mail the consumer also mentioned: “Well I talked with the Thermador “Customer Service” today with the verdict on our oven problems. I must be honest in saying that I am extremely disappointed and shocked at what I was told. Total disregard for any responsibility on Thermador’s part. The gal I spoke with said it was not registered. It seems very odd to me that a recall notice was not at least sent to the retailer that we purchased it from. We paid for the unit in March 2007. It was not even installed until August of 2007. That was 3 months after the recall was announced. I also learned, after checking with the Consumer Product Safety Commission that it is illegal to resell a recalled consumer product. That makes selling our house a little difficult, as WE do not break the law. Thinking of putting some yellow hazard tape over the oven when showing the house. Great advertising for Thermador . We purchased Thermador because we thought it was the best.”
Repair work summary taken from attachments: 6/9/11: The oven was showing F51 code. The technician stated that the unit “checked out fine, ran through cleaning ok.” Repair cost: $60 ([REDACTED])
1/13/12: The door latch got stuck. The consumer ordered the parts and technician installed it. Repair cost: $132 ([REDACTED])
2/22/13: The technician “reset the thermal fuse on the oven.” Repair cost: $108 ([REDACTED])
1/17/14: The technician “replaced the high limit thermostat.” Repair cost: $113.85 ([REDACTED])
1/9/15: The oven was beeping and showing F-34 after 37 minutes in self-clean mode. The technician “found cooling pan is slowing, causing cycle.” The technician “replaced fan” and mentioned that “all operations checked ok.” Repair cost: $267.50 ([REDACTED])
9/21/15: The oven was showing F-34. The technician “found poor connection at fan motor” The technician “tightened connections” and mentioned that “all ops checked ok.” Repair cost: $117.50 ([REDACTED])
10/21/15: The technician “installed new harness” and mentioned that “all operations ok.” Repair cost: $129.50 ([REDACTED])

The product, in the report: Thermador Double Wall oven, single control panel.
I have had repeated problems with my thermador wall oven. The display panel and control board have both been replaced as well as the broiler element and hinges. The model is a C302. My specific model is the stainless steel finish of this product. The C302 does have a recall, specifically for the problems I describe, but because my model has 2 numbers indicating stainless steel, the company cannot seem to be able to deal with this and i am getting nowhere with them. The oven overheats due to poor insulation, and then sets off an error code and the oven completely shuts down. The problem occurred within the first several years of purchasing this over $4000 product. I have made repairs to the tune of over $700, and for the past year pretty much have barely used my oven due to this problem. The problem with the broiler element was that it sparked and had a hot spot which, if unattended, I’m sure could have turned into a fire. I would either like my oven model specifically recalled, or help with having the company honor the recall of the C302 ovens on my model (specially C302ZS for stainless steel)

The product, in the report: Oven
I moved to a 2 year old house that has a Thermador double oven model SMW272yp. Progressively the digital display got dimmer to the point that today you cannot see the numbers, thus cannot set the oven temperature, rendering the over pretty much unusable. These ovens are expensive; I understand over $2000. Upon consulting with an authorized technician for Thermador he said that this is a known problem and that many, if not all, displays suffer from this dimming issue. Thermador is aware of the problem but has never issued a recall. I check on the web for “Thermador dimming display” and confirmed that there are hundreds of complaints from customers with the same problem. I contacted Thermador Customer Service and they said that they can provide a new display kit that replaces the defective one but at a cost of $288. I also found several cases on the web that mentioned that they have installed this new kit to find, within one or two years, that the display dims again. I believe that this is a known design problem and the ovens should be recalled or at least Thermador should send the parts to the customers without cost and cover the repair service.

The product, in the report: Thermador double ovens with microwave Product CM302US serial number 81010187
While using self clean mode on upper oven I smelled what seemed to be electrical or rubber burning. I immediately turned off the oven. When it cooled there was nothing inside that appeared affected. I turned the oven on to see if it was working, an error message displayed. On having the repairman out he showed me where a wiring harness above the top oven had burned and started to melt the attached wiring insulation. He told me this was not unusual in self cleaning ovens since the wiring lays directly on the metal roof of the oven with no insulation between the wiring and the oven. If I would have left my house during the cleaning period or not noticed the burning smell this could have caused a serious house fire. I am without an oven again since this is not the first time my ovens have had need of repair and I have been quoted a very large amount to repair this by an independant contractor ($700.). The independant service contractor had looked at my unit in the spring. After the contractor was unable to procure the correct parts he suggested I try thermador again. Contacted thermador on 6/30/2011 they informed me that the product was not on recall and of course I could pay to have their repair people come and repair the unit. . Thermador did not even offer to look at the problem to see if it was something they should be concerned about. They are willing to make the service call for the $100 and the $120 dollar an hour there after for the repair. Even if it is repaired the problem will not be sovled by having wiring laying directly on the top of the metal box of the oven

The grill coil of my Thermador oven exploded when set to broil (after about 8 minutes). It was replaced by a new component installed by a Thermador service representative.
