Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The consumer stated that he noticed the issue with the oven when it was purchased in 2021. Since then, the issue has gotten worse.

The consumer contacted the firm and was advised that it is not unusual to smell gas when the oven is first turned on.

Made Mar 15, 2024, sent to the company Mar 18, 2024, published by CPSC Apr 1, 2024

The product, in the report: Cafe 30” Smart Slide-In, Front-Control, Dual-Fuel, Double-Oven Range with Convection, Stainless steel

After the oven preheated completely, I went to open the oven and the glass exploded - shattering into a million pieces. There was a loud boom noise. Quite frightening. The oven, a GE Cafe, is in pristine condition and about 2 1/2 years old. GE is not willing to take ownership or responsibility for a defective piece.
