The product, in the report: Built in double oven. The top oven glass door shattered.
I was standing in the kitchen at 9.30pm last night and heard a noise near the oven. As I walked over I saw the inside panel of glass shattering. The oven had not been used in several days and was not turned on. I opened the top oven door and glass was falling out all over the oven and floor below. The manufacturer is Fisher and Paykel and the model number is OD302 and is 7 years old. When I called Fisher and Paykel they said it was out of warranty and I would be responsible for the repairs.

The product, in the report: Fisher & Paykel DCS cooking downdraft DD-36SS
I would like to file a request to investigate a particular product. I believe that the Fisher & Paykel DCS cooking downdraft DD-36SS has a safety flaw that may cause severe burns. The unit has a push-button switch on the top that actuates the unit and it rises out of the countertop. Because it is directly behind the stove, it is very easy to have a pot handle, perhaps with boiling water, extended over the rising downdraft such that the water will be spilled or the pot overturned. Because the switch is unguarded, it is very easy to inadvertently actuate it simply be setting something down near the edge of the stove. The switch should have a guard so that it cannot be actuated accidentally.
While we have not had a safety incident yet with this product, we have had at least two occurrences of accidental actuation of the switch, causing the cooktop to rise from the countertop and overturning pots on the stove or other cookware. Thankfully, nothing was hot at the time.
