Mr. [REDACTED] from Clearinghouse contacted this caller, advised him to create incident report.

Range purchased in 2001, had problems only one other time in 2012 , he filed 20120127-F1085-12735 & all was taken [care] of.

    12/14/ est

The inner glass in his oven door cracked with tiny pieces of glass falling off inside the oven. The oven was last used 11-28-2013. The oven had been used since the previous day so was not hot.

His wife was going to bake in her oven around December 14th, 2013 but she went to her range and noticed immediately that the inner glass on the oven door had a crack from one end to the other horizontal end with a second crack that is vertical.

He is reporting this incident as a safety issue beleiving that the user could be cut if broken door is not noticed and small pieces of glass could also drop into the food.

Caller has contacted the manufacturer and they referred him to CPSC but did advise him that they will attempt to locate a replacement glass for his unit.

There are no recalls on this product.

There are no injuries being reported

    DACOR Model# ECS130SBK with Serial# VC1082286

When the consumer contacted the repair department where oven was purchased the consumer was told that the outer glass on the oven door could also shatter at any time.

The consumer was also told that using the self-cleaning feature could cause the thermostat to malfunction & the oven would be totally inoperable.

Would the consumers have purchased this $2,000 oven had they known these things? Absolutely Not!
