The product, in the report: Dual fuel Kenmore Elite Range
I have A dual fuel range, The oven is electric and the burners run on propane. The circuit boards behind the clock that control the oven spontaneously combusted and caught on fire. The wall was slightly burned and the microwave above it. One of the oven relays on the board caught fire and all the plastic burned the electronic components. There was A large recall on ranges from Kenmore in the time period when this one was manufactured, but this particular model was not. Apparently there was A real for fire hazards regarding the relays catching on fire.

The product, in the report: Sears Elite Wall Oven, model number 790.48033800
I came home from work last Wednesday to find the oven light on and the oven warm. I live alone and no one else was in the house. Since I leave the house early in the morning, I certainly would have noticed the illumination from the oven light. This is a very scary thing and I have flipped the breaker off for the oven and after reading some of the other complaints, am fearful of having the oven fixed.

The product, in the report: Sears Kenmore Elite Dual Fuel Range Model # 790.7938* where * is color
My wife and I own a Kenmore Elite Dual Fuel Range, Model #790.7938... We purchased it as a wedding gift for each other on May 6, 2005. On Christmas morning (12/25/12) we were cooking muffins in the oven and heard popping and cracking from the kitchen. My wife and I ran to the kitchen and found black smoke and flames coming out from the back of the clock and electronics. I quickly turned off the oven and the flames stopped. I then turned off the circuit breaker too. We then pulled the oven away from the wall and turned off the gas. Now the oven is locked like it is self cleaning mode and we cannot open the oven door to get the muffin pans out. I am a electrical engineer who designs circuit boards that operate high voltage and high current energy. This type of design failure is unacceptable and consumers should be warned of the inherent danger in these products.
As it was Christmas morning when this failed my wife and I gave thanks that we were home when it did so no one was injured and nothing other than the range was broken. Many time since we have reflected that one of the features we use routinely is the delayed start function, imagine if this failure mode happened one of the days we used this feature. We could have come home to our house on fire!

The product, in the report: Flat top, slide-in range with convection oven. The product includes four burners on the cooktop and a warming spot. There is also a warming tray under the oven.
I was heating bread in the oven at 400 degrees. I was also cooking broth and roast beef on the front, right burner on low. All of a sudden, flames began shooting from the rear of the control panel. I immediately pulled the stove away from the wall. My husband blew out the flame as I was getting the fire extinguisher. The stove began beeping with a F 80 (I believe) warning illuminating. The fire was out by my husband’s blowing on it, so he proceeded to the garage to turn off the breaker. The entire house smelled of electrical fire. We have not used it since.

The product, in the report: Sears Kenmore Elite 30” dual fuel slide in range/stove about 2003
I was in my home office and heard a crashing noise from the kitchen area and when I investgated I discovered that the Outer Glass in the oven door had exploded and shattered alover the kitchen! I am a firefighter so immediately went into safety first mode not knowing what caused it. After careful ly searching I found that the oven was not on and had not been all day and there was now gas smell or appartent electrical fire etc. After scracthing my head while cleaning up and going on line I find out that this is a all too common occurance. My wife is so irate because our 4 year old granddaughter was in the kitchen the day before cooking christmas cookies and could have seriously hurt!!!!!! All you have to do is google kenmore range oven door glass exploding abd you will find many irate people with this situation and Sears isn’t doing anything about it on their own and it is multiple brand names that it is happening to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Nothing was dropped of door not slammed, it was just sitting there in the middle of the afternoon!
