The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: 6.3 cu. ft. Smart Induction Freestanding Range with ProBake Convection and Air fry

I have an LG range installed less than 2 months. I was standing next to it and had the oven warming up when the exterior glass just shattered scaring everyone in the kitchen. I was standing by it with a plastic plate in my hand so my first thought was I tapped it but the adults with me said it broke first. Even then any glass that will shatter with a tap is unsafe. A child could be severely injured as their eyes are within the stove door height and glass flew all over my kitchen

The product, in the report: LG LRIN6323YE 6.3cu.ft induction range. We had it for only 1 week!

I was making a casserole first 30 min at 300F, then 375F for the next 25 min, but with 7 min left in a timer, my son heard a loud pop, and when I ran in from outside to see, open the door and inner glass was all over. Thankfully nobody was injured. The range was only 1 week old.

The product, in the report: LG Dual Fuel Range

I have an LG Dual Fuel Range. I recently wiped out my oven with a wet paper towel and noticed it had blue specks all over it. After doing some online research and contacting LG, it turns out it is the lining of my oven chipping off and it seems this is a common problem. Because there is a fan in the oven the chips can float around in the air and land on any food being cooked making it dangerous to use. Several online sources say this is due to high heat. Since it is an oven, intended to be used with high heat and has a built in self cleaning setting, this would be considered a manufacturing defect. However, LG is not interested in correcting the problem unless it is under warranty. This is very unsafe as the the glass chips are small, will fly into the food being cooked and can be consumed. LG recommended I not use the oven to cook food since the chips are a glass based porcelain enamel coating. The “when it happened” date is an estimate because the chips are not visible unless you wipe out the oven since they are the same color. Therefore, it is hard to know how long this has been going on. This is the approximate date of when I discovered there was an issue.

The product, in the report: LG Wall oven/micorwave combo- Model number LWC3063BD, Serial number 905KMCB0P491

LG ovens, both wall and free standing, with a blue ceramic coating has the coating flaking and peeling within the oven and oven floor. My oven is 6 years old and only used for light to normal cooking. The oven has never been cleaned with any products other than soap, water and soft sponge. I have found many consumer posts regarding this same issue. The flaking and coating residue has the potential to contaminate food that is being cooked in these ovens. The ceramic coating loss has also exposed the under layer of the oven that may cause it to overheat causing a fire hazard. After multiple attempts to obtain a resolution from LG to remedy this issue their only response is that the oven is no longer under warranty. LG has to be aware of this problem but either refuses to address or remedy the oven’s defect. My LG model number is LWC3063BD. It was purchased in 2019. The issue became extremely noticeable within the last month but was present prior. At first I thought it was just some food residue that needed to be cleaned but upon wiping the area ceramic flakes and particles appeared on the paper towel. The bottom of the oven’s ceramic coating is now coming off in large patches.

I have a rubber protector over the top of my LG range. A friend mistakenly leaned up against the range, and it turned on the front burner. Luckily we were standing right there when it began to melt the protector.

The product, in the report: InstaView with Air Fry 30-in Smooth Surface 5 Elements 6.3-cu ft Self-Cleaning Convection Oven Slide

We weren’t home, but the fire marshal believes the dogs were looking for something on the counter and turned on the stove. The nobs for the stove were on the front of the machine and they could be, and were, turned on just by bumping them. This caused a major fire in my home that ruined my kitchen and led to fire, smoke and water damage throughout my house that will cause us to be out of the home at least 9 months.

The product, in the report: Oh double oven

FIRE. While baking Christmas cookies with the grandkids and my brand new two week old, LG double oven, apparently someone brushed against the knob and turned it on which caused a fire with potholders on the stove. Top under the cookie sheets full of cookies we had smoke and fire everywhere had to evacuate the kids out of the house. It smelled so bad it burnt marks into my cooktop, we had to put air cleaners in the house before we could even come in and breathe it. It was so bad the knobs on the stove turn on way too easily. It does have a control lock option, but you can only use that if you are not using the oven or the stove top so it’s really scary. Some of LG’s customer service was very helpful. Other was rather rude. I just think the knobs are dangerous and they could easily come up with a fix. I was actually suggested to put clear baby covers to keep children out of knobs over my brand new thousands of dollars stove that would be ugly and why should I have to do that for your design defect. DEFECTIVE KNOB DESIGN CAUSED FIRE. Originally, I had made a report regarding the dangerous knobs because we noticed how easily they got turned on immediately when the stove came the fire happened two weeks after I got the stove.
