The product, in the report: Perhaps best described as an Up/Down Oven. Unknown manufacture date. Bought new when my kitchen/home was remodeled mid to late year 2012.

Had set my LG Up/Down Oven in self clean mode. Soon after smoke was billowing throughout the house and was woken by my son who lives across the road. The product description Is as follows: * LG Up/Down Oven *Model#: LWD3010ST/00 * Product Code: LD3552SPASTLLGA * S/N: 105SKMBVOT885 This is a very dangerous condition and could have taken my life, but for the actions of my son.

The product, in the report: double oven

The consumer noticed that the knobs are melting. The consumer states all 5 knobs have burn damages. The consumer states the knobs are made of plastic and the heat from the oven are causing them to melt. The consumer is worried that the knobs will start failing and he will think the knobs are in the “Off” position but still be “On” allowing gas to leak. The consumer read other complaints online where consumers had gas leaks due to the melted knobs not turning to the “Off” position.

The consumer purchased an extended warranty with Best Buy and contacted them about the issue. The consumer was offered replacement knobs (Order # [REDACTED]).

The consumer believes the oven is not safe and has a poor design. He does not understand why the firm would use plastic parts on a product that gets very hot.

The consumer said he contacted the firm and they informed him that the parts only have a one year warranty. The consumer was also informed that this issue was a cosmetic problem.
