The product, in the report: GE Double Oven Range - Model number PGS960YPFS.
My GE double oven range was not in use when the inner glass pane of my top oven spontaneously shattered all over the floor. I was standing about 5 ft away washing dishes . No injuries occurred. However, because it was a spontaneous event had anyone been standing closer, they may have been injured by flying glass.

No one hurt Made Jul 21, 2026, sent to the company Jul 24, 2026, published by CPSC Aug 7, 2026
The product, in the report: GE 30 Smart Built-in Double wall oven
Own GE Smart Built-in Double Wall Oven purchased in 1020. The outer glass on the top oven just exploded. The oven was not on, hadnt been used in a week, there was no previous damage and it had not been hit with anything. If anyone was near the oven, they would have been sprayed with chards of glass and if I hadnt been home to clean up the glass my dog would have walked through the glass and cut her paws. Talked to the company where I purchased the oven and they had never heard of this happening. Talked to GE customer service and the representative said she had heard it happening one other time. This seems to be a dangerous design flaw and a possible recall needs to be done.

No one hurt Made May 15, 2026, sent to the company May 21, 2026, published by CPSC Jun 5, 2026
The product, in the report: GE Double Wall Oven (Model: JKD3000SN1SS, Serial: AR086609Q). Stainless with glass windows for upper and lower ovens
while my GE Double Wall Oven (Model: JKD3000SN1SS, Serial: AR086609Q) was completely powered off and cold, the outer glass panel of the lower oven spontaneously shattered. The failure occurred with a loud “pop” or explosion-like sound, projecting glass fragments across the kitchen floor and creating a hazardous cleanup.
The lower oven has not been operated or even opened in approximately one year, ruling out any recent thermal stress or user-inflicted impact. This incident represents a spontaneous structural failure of tempered glass on an idle appliance, posing a distinct safety hazard in the home. A GE technician has inspected the unit (GE Case #[REDACTED]), but the manufacturer is currently disputing cost coverage due to the unit being out of warranty.

The product, in the report: Model: JTS3000SN1SS Serial: RT115957Q Name: GE Smart Built-In Self-Clean Single Wall Oven
Our GE Smart WIFI Built-in oven, Model #:JTS3000SNSS caught fire while we were asleep at 5am. The oven was last used on a Thursday, 5 days before it caught fire on Tuesday 5/23/2023. A cutting board was left inside the oven, on the top rack as it was off and finally reached ignition temperature. However, whatever made the Oven to come on itself (on its own) to ignite the board remains unknown. The oven was connected to GE smartHq app, the GE app that notifies us whenever the Oven is initiated to start cooking. We never received any notification for anything. There is a lock on the oven to prevent any accidental human error that could turn it on. We did shared our notification list for the same to the appropriate people to validate that this Oven was never turned on in any way to cook in the days leading to the fire.
UPDATED ON 6/2/2023: [In addition to the information submitted, I am also attached a photo of my burned Oven in this email. Further, I attached another user, who complained about their Oven turning on, by itself to GE. This complaint is in the review section at [REDACTED] ]

The product, in the report: GE 30” Double Wall Convection Electric Oven/Model # JT5500SF6SS
We have GE 30” Double Wall Convection Ovens, Model # JT5500SF6SS. We were pre-heating the oven to 400 Degrees Fahrenheit with nothing inside the oven, and about 2 to 3 minutes into the pre-heat, a big fire & loud boom occurred inside the oven. We immediately turned off the oven. After allowing the internal smoke to be slowly released, we discovered that the entire oven had turned from black to grey. Also, the area around the glass became discolored & misshaped. Also the stainless metal on the outside became slightly dented & misshaped. It was very scary!

The product, in the report: GE microwave/oven combo wall unit model number #JTP86B0F588, serial number SH610585Q, however, the repairman mentioned that GE at some point in time eliminated the “0” in the model number so that GE would not be responsible for repairs, replacement, etc.
We had a GE microwave/oven wall unit in our home since 2005 and it never really operated correctly and needed many repairs over the years. Most recently my wife was cleaning the oven and the oven overheated and was smoking and almost caught fire. We were going to call the fire department but I shut off the electrical breaker. Then we contacted an appliance repair company and they came out to our house and stated that they would not touch the unit since they have seen many GE microwave/oven wall unit just like ours that catch fire and it is clearly a safety and fire hazard. GE will not reimburse us any for cost of the unit and it giving us a complete run-a-round. Please investigate. Thank you.

Parts are available as required
We renovated our Kitchen and installed a suite of GE products to outfit our kitchen. We have been highly satisfied. Unfortunately, the front right burner has developed an uneven flame pattern to include some lighting issues and unexpected flare ups. Upon review, we found the tri-ring burner assembly has separated, creating a gap for gas leakage and a potential safety hazard. As this appears to be a manufacturing defect request you provide a replacement part and take necessary design corrections. • Oven Model: C2S985SET1SS 30” Café Dual Fuel Range • Part Number: GAS RANGE 20K TRI-RING BURNER ASSEMBLY WB16K10079. •

The product, in the report: Double built in wall ovens.
I was baking in the upper oven (GE double oven built in; Model JKP44GOPABG; Serial DL6417540) when I noticed a bright light in the bottom of the oven. The element on the bottom of the oven was burning and sparking. I turned the oven off and turned off the electricity by throwing the circuit breaker but the element continued to burn and throw off sparks for another half hour. Quite a bit of noxious smoke was released into the kitchen. I believe that a fire or electrical short in an oven is a potentially dangerous situation.

GE CAFÉ™ SERIES SLIDE-IN FRONT CONTROL DUAL-FUEL RANGE WITH BAKING DRAWER C2S985SETSS - There is nothing to indicate a gas burner is lit and in use. Due to low flame levels when burners are on low the flame is hard to see. If you do not look at the knobs it is easy to overlook the fact the burners are still on. The product, in the report: GE monogram 48” dual fuel range
We own a GE monogram 48” professional dual fuel range. Today 1-17-15 we were making pancakes on the griddle area we could not understand why the pancakes started to burn we tried to turn the heat down but it stayed extremely hot and when we finished the knob said it was turned off but the gas and electric burner did not go off. It got so hot that four of our tiles behind the stove fell off the wall. We purchased the range in 2012 the model # is ZDP484NGP4SS. We shut off both the electric and gas to the stove. After a cool down period of about three hours we turned the electric and gas back on. The electric starter for the griddle came on on its own and so did the gas without us touching the knobs. All knobs were in the off position. We immediately shut the breaker off and the gas valve. GE service has not responded yet.
Dual fuel range burned pancakes during use & the griddle knob when turned to low remained extremely hot. When the units knobs were turned off the burners remained on & caused 4 tiles behind the stove to fall off. The electric & gas was shut down & then turned on when
The Electric griddle burner knob on the dual fuel range was turned low during use but it stayed extremely hot & caused 4 tiles behind the stove to fall off the wall. When power was shut off to the unit & turned on back again the electric & gas burners came on by themselves.

The product, in the report: GE Double Wall oven with Microwave on top
Ref to Report Nu.: 20141029-2aa0b-1437662 Our house was build around 2005. We just purchased this pre-owned home. We have a GE Microwave and double wall oven (32681230p001 model nu. JTP48S0F3SS Serial nu. GH604308 )NOTE I am reading these numbers off the second oven door. On 10/27/2014, I set the top-oven to self-clean and few minutes later heard a hugs noise and find the inner oven glass-door cracked/shattered in a very tiny pieces. I have never ever seen this before. My small research online shows many others have reported the same issue with their GE appliances. Although, it appears there is no report on this serial nu? Was told by GE Consumer Relation that there is no recall on this oven/issue. I have taken few photos and had a repairman to come and check it on Oct 28th. But I think, this is very dangerous if one would open the door and shattered glass would be everywhere or on them. If a blind person was operating this oven would be hurt badly by the shattered glasses. So Please do something about this important safety issue. Thanks

The product, in the report: GE Profile microwave convection oven, Model number PEB 1590 SM 2SS
On November 29, 2010, my husband and I purchased a built-in double oven from Lowe’s of Abilene, TX, Store# 138. The salesperson was [REDACTED]. This was a combination regular oven, plus a smaller convection/microwave. The oven was installed in our kitchen on February 22, 2011, by Lowe’s installer [REDACTED] The double oven is a GE Profile Model number PT916S R1SS, and the microwave/convection oven is Model number PEB 1590 SM 2SS.
I am very concerned that the installation was not done correctly, or that the product is defective, because whenever I use the upper convection oven, the wood cabinetry above the oven become so hot that I’m fearful they will combust and catch fire. The items in the cabinet above the oven also become very hot to the touch ... too hot to pick up. I have even tried opening the cabinet doors in hopes of some of the heat escaping, but the cabinet shelf above and the items inside still become extremely hot to the point I’m fearful of a fire (not to mention the that the wood cabinets would begin to warp due to extreme heat).
I am very disappointed that Lowe’s has not corrected this problem. Our original salesman, [REDACTED], did come out with another staff person some months after we stated our concerns. But during his investigation, he turned the oven on for only a short period of time, which did not provide an adequate test of the extreme heat conditions I have continued to experience above the microwave convection oven. I had not used the oven much, but as I began to use it more, I have become more and more concerned. I spoke to the manager [REDACTED] about this last month, and he said there was nothing

The product, in the report: GE Wall Oven
I had a brand new wall oven installed today. The Owner’s Manual suggested that removal of the new-oven odor could be expedited by running a 3 hour self-cleaning cycle. During the self cleaning cycle, the middle layer of glass shattered. Very hot glass dropped onto the floor. Before the middle glass shattered, the exterior glass had not been too hot to touch. After the middle glass shattered, the exterior glass was too hot to touch and could have easily burned my children or pets. Because the control panel does not allow a self-cleaning cycle to be turned off, I had to stop the cycle by turning off the breaker. If I had not noticed the broken glass and turned off the breaker, there could have been a burn injury.

The product, in the report: GE Profile dual fuel oven
My GE dual-fuel stove caught on fire during the end of using the self-cleaning phase. It should be noted that my stove was not very dirty and was very well maintained. I smelled a strong smell of an electrical fire and realized that smoke was pouring out of the top area of the range where the controls are. After just a few minutes, fire began bursting out of the same area, licking around the top and side of the stove, singeing the wall behind the stove. After calling the fire department, we eventually doused the fire with water, vacated the house and waited for the fire department. The fire department did determine that the fire was out and arranged fans to help remove the smoke and odor from house.
That day I called GE customer service to make a complaint and was told by the assistant that they were not aware of such problems with these stoves. She made a very minor offer to provide a $100 voucher towards a new stove, opened a report and I told her that I would research and follow-up. After researching I have learned that this stove is indeed the subject of a recall for exactly the type of fire that occurred. After calling the recall hotline, this was confirmed as the same model/style stove. A technician is now coming to my house to check the stove; however I am deeply disturbed at the handling of my original call by GE and their failure to disclose the recall to me.
I have pictures of the stove, damaged wall and model number but could not upload during this initial report. I can make them available as needed.

The product, in the report: GE Profile combo microwave/oven wall unit
Several years ago I noticed that the display on the wall oven (not the microwave) was showing that it was about to go into the cleaning mode! I had NOT pushed any buttons or done anything on any keypads. I immediately opened the oven door and removed some plastic containers I had been storing in the oven. The oven did not feel hot. I don’t use my oven except for storage.
I was reminded of this incident after reading an article in Consumer Reports about microwaves starting on their own.
The GE Profile combo wall oven was manufactured in Dec 2001. I have the model and serial numbers if you need them. In addition, the white seal around the microwave door has come loose but I was told by a GE tech that this is still safe.

I have found a melted power cord where it plugs into the back of the range. I have no damage to my property other than I won’t use the unit until I get it checked. I have researched the issue and have found that GE has a recall on these units thru the CPSC in April 8, 2009. My model is newer than what the recall covers. please contact me asap, as I will be contacting GE to get this fixed. I want to know if the past recall fix has caused any further issues or not. thanks [REDACTED]

I have a GE wall oven that is about 4 years old. While cooking last night, my oven’s glass door shattered. I had just turned the temperature up to 400 degrees, which I have done on countless occassions before, and put a sweet potato in to bake. After 10 minutes I heard a very loud crack and went to the kitchen to see what had happened. I looked in my oven and saw that the glass window of the oven had shattered. I believe this is a manufacturer’s defect and should be recalled by GE. This has happened to a lot of other people and it is really a dangerous situation. I would like GE to replace my oven with a safe one.

The product, in the report: Dual Fuel Range. Gas cooktop and electric convection oven.
This incident occurred with a GE Dual-Fuel Range model j2b918sel2ss. The range caught fire resulting in large flames shooting out from under the control panel. The fire was extinguished by turning off the external gas feed to the appliance.
Analysis after indicates that the control panel was destroyed, and all the internal wiring running down the side of the range was burned. In addition, there’s a large gas leak internally in the area where the wires and gas feed line run up the side of the range.
At the time of the incident, both the oven and cooktop were in use (The oven was in non-convection mode), and had been in use for approx 2 hours. Turning off the burners on the cooktop did not extinguish the fire, and the food cooking in the oven was not affected by the fire (the fire was NOT in the oven)

The product, in the report: GE 30” Dual Fuel Range SS
WE own a GE Profile 30” dual fuel convection range model #J2B918SEK3ss, serial #LL202846P, PURCHASED 07/01/2006. The unit has a warming tray/oven below the regular oven. On September 27, 2011 we discovered that the dishwasher had been leaking and reported a claim to State Farm Insurance. State Farm sent the local Service Master firm to remove the damaged flooring. During this process I was called to the kitchen and shown the vinyl flooring under the above referenced range. The top layer of vinyl (aprox. 4 to 5 years old) had a dinner plate size burn under the area of the warming tray and the second layer of vinyl, much older, had a smaller burn through to the pine sub flooring.
I have both layers of the flooring. I have digital photos of the flooring as each layer was removed.
GE service techs said the range was installed correctly with a minimum of 1/4 inch clearance.
The company installing the new vinyl states they have never experienced this problem before. The company that sold the top layer of the vinyl that was burned states they have never experienced this problem before. Service Master states they have never experienced this problem before.
GE has not provided any assistance in correcting, repairing or replacing the range.
I feel that this product is a danger to our house and to our lives.
For the incident date I have used the discovery date.
