The product, in the report: GE Profile dual fuel slide-in range, stainless steel, standard size and dimensions for the type.
GE Profile dual fuel (gas cooktop, electric oven) range oven exploded while opening to place items to bake. There was a flash, sparking, smoke and molten metal from the upper unit (which had melted) sprayed about inside. Had I not closed the door quickly, I might have been seriously injured. An internet search revealed that there had been explosions in similar ranges that blew out the glass in the door. Concern that this might happen to others with more serious consequences prompts me to report the incident.

The product, in the report: 30 Inch Smart Convection Double Wall Oven with WiFi Connect, True European Convection with Direct Air, Alexa and Google Home Voice Control, Fit Guarantee, Brilliant Touch 7” Display, Sabbath Mode, Precision Cooking Modes, No Preheat Option, 10-Pass Bake Element, 10-Pass Dual Broil Element, Hot Air Frying, Anywhere Control with Remote Notifications, and Scan-to-Cook Technology: Stainless Steel
GE Profile 30 Inch Smart Convection Double Wall Oven: PTD7000SNSS. I put something into the oven to broil, and after about 4 minutes, the glass door of the oven exploded. The inner door of the oven shattered, but not into small, safe pebbles. It had shattered into many sharp shards all over the upper oven, and as a result of opening the door, the lower oven and floor. This product is less than 2 years old. I have never slammed the oven door, rested objects on the door, bumped the door with pans, or used the door to move oven racks.

The product, in the report: GE Profile Range Model# PGB930SET2SS Serial# FZ211506P
We own a GE Profile Range with double oven and last week the glass in the oven literally spontaneously exploded out of the front. The glass exploded clear across our kitchen and contaminated the inside of the oven as well. We are very lucky no one was injured or near the unit at the time of explosion. The oven was not on nor was it damaged, it is a fairly new unit and was purchased 5 years ago when we built our home. GE is refusing to replace the unit even though they told me there are aware of the problem and there are hundreds of report of this happening across the nation. The inside of the unit is contaminated with glass shards and cannot be safety used but GE still refuses to replace the unit. I want to share my story with others so they are aware of the dangers of this unit and need to have GE replace the unit as it is their responsibility and it cannot be safely used.

The product, in the report: GE Dual Fuel standing oven with controls in the backsplash. Purchased 2004. Mod# J2B915BEH1BB Ser# SG203859P
The heating element in my GE Dual Fuel oven burst into flame. it burned for about 2 minutes, with a full flame. after I shut off the oven and let it cool down, I used tongs to touch the metal. it broke off and little pieces of metal fell into the oven.
GE calls the “heating element failure” and I have to pay to replace the part. I don’t know if the flame damaged any other part of the oven. there are other instances of this happening in comments on the internet.
please note, I was warming up the broiler. nothing spilled onto the heating elements. the oven was pretty clean. it was the upper piece, so less exposed to food dripping on it.
Why is this not under a recall? Why is this considered “normal” failure? my previous oven was 40 years old and I never had a problem with the element exploding into flames.

The product, in the report: Dual Fuel Range (electric oven / gas cooktop)
Dual fuel gas range control panel / circuit board (replaced in 2014 by the manufacturer) is exhibiting same issues as the original - Random error codes on the LCD screen / failure of control panel. The last time (in 2014) we were told that excessive heat from too much cooking caused the failure. As our cooktop burners are gas, I am concerned with any failure of the control panel.

The product, in the report: GE Stove - Dual Fuel (gas and electric) GE Profile
I was using my 4 year old GE stove and smelled burning plastic smell. The stove sudden shut off and was smoking coming from the rear of the stove. I quickly shut off power to it. After investigating I found that the 220V power cord had burned thru and melted the terminal block on the rear of the stove. The insulation around this melted wire was dripping down by the gas line coming into the stove (as its a duel fuel stove). This very likely could have caught fire or caused an gas explosion burning down my home! There are recalls on similar duel fuel GE stoves to mine for similar safety issues, but my model is not included in those recalls. Recall # 09-189, I am a GE engineer and have a huge concern here. I contacted GE and they just didn’t care or seem to want to do anything about it. Just been giving me the run around. Due to the serious nature of this issue, I’m afraid to just repair the oven now as I don’t know if that same thing would happen again. Also concerned for others with the same stove.

The product, in the report: GE profile convection wall oven
My GE Profile Convection oven started glowing on the back wall within the convection fan area. The fire traveled around the coil circle. We shut off the oven and have not used it since. My concern is that I also found another report of this on the Internet. The complaint stated that the previous owner had the same thing happen to them (convection coils caught fire) and then caught fire a year later, all in a clean oven. Here is the address of incident: http://www.diychatroom.com/f47/scary-oven-fire-why-did-burn-32376/ My model # is J K955S0K1SS My serial# is: GH6 207 15Q Please let me know if there have been more complaints and how I should proceed. I’m concerned about repairing it as this did not help the other incidents. I’m concerned that the fire could have happened while I was away from home, perhaps slow cooking something.

The product, in the report: dual fuel range
(10/03/2014) The consumer stated that she noticed a smell of gas. She looked at the stove and noticed that the fuse was blown. Her husband checked the circuit breaker and turned it back on. When he turned the breaker on something sparked from the stove and a lot of black smoke came for the back of the stove. The consumer took a fire extinguisher and squirted it on the back of the stove. Her husband turned off the gas. He pulled out the stove and saw that the entire wiring of the cord was burned. Also the wall behind the stove was blackened. The gas line to the stove also had a hole in it.
The consumer stated that her husband changed the cord to a double insulated cord but kepr the damaged parts.
The consumer stated that she saw on line where the same thing had happened to other GE Profile gas ranges.

Hurt, no treatment Made Apr 23, 2013, sent to the company Apr 30, 2013, published by CPSC May 14, 2013
The product, in the report: GE Profile Double Wall Oven (top oven): white.
The door on my newly purchased/installed GE Profile Wall Oven (upper oven) shattered this morning at approx 8:20 am. The oven had not been used since last night. It had not been touched this morning. The glass went all over the kitchen floor and onto nearby counters. The shattering was most prominent around the left, bottom, and right edges of the glass door, less so on top. I checked the internet and there are many customer complaints (e.g. on blogs) about GE wall ovens with glass doors that shatter unexpectedly and without any cause by the consumer. Our au pair was making breakfast on a cooktop when the wall oven shattered: she reported feeling the sensation of having glass in her hands. I came home and observed tiny “puzzle” pieces of glass all over the kitchen: the glass door exploded along the plane of the door: left, down, and right.

The product, in the report: GE Profile dual fuel stove
Over the past few years I noticed a sulfur smell on the first floor of my home in the morning. I searched for the source off and on during that time a decided that it may have been from and abundance of cardboard boxes in my basement or new drywall I had installed in my basement (this was at the time of the Chinese drywall recall) and figured it would eventually go away.
One day when my allergies were acting up and my nose was more sensitive than usual I went looking for the source again and found a loose gas fitting in my kitchen stove. I tightened the fitting and have not noticed the smell since. The fitting was not in the supply line but rather inside the stove at the block that the supply line fed into. I only had to turn the fitting on the tube about 1/4 turn to stop the leak.
I didn’t immediately check the stove because it was only a mild sulfur smell not the thiol/mercaptan odor you get from a burner not lighting right away.
My stove is a GE Profile purchased from Sears in mid 2005. model: J2B918CEK1CC s/n: GH203532P
