The product, in the report: Cafe GE C2Y486, Professional dual fuel range
Several times, the gas burners on our Cafe C2Y488 range has turned on. This seems to occur if the knob is bumped accidentally, which can easily happen if you walk by or are doing other things in the kitchen. This could also easily occur if a child were playing with it. In today’s incident, there was a pot on the stove where the burner turned on, the pot became extremely hot, some paper caught on fire. Fortunately, we were home and the smoke alarms went off. But the accidental turning on of a burner has occurred at least 4 times since we purchased this range about 2 yr ago, and we are careful, often removing the knobs except for burners that we use all the time.

No incident, no one hurt Made May 6, 2025, sent to the company May 9, 2025, published by CPSC May 23, 2025
The product, in the report: GE Cafe 36” Smart Dual-Fuel Commercial-Style Range with 6 Burners (Natural Gas), Model #: C2Y366P2T1S1, in stainless steel
We set a sheet pan from the oven on top of the range to cool. While stirring the vegetables on the sheet pan, I inadvertently leaned on the knobs mounted on the front of the range, which ignited a burner, which lit the parchment paper on fire. Fortunately, we were able to put out the fire, but this is not the first time we’ve accidentally activated a burner this way. Once. While cleaning the range top, I accidentally activated a burner, very luckily not the burner I was cleaning at that moment. Often while cooking, I’ll accidentally activate one of the burners.
