  1. No one hurt

Made Jan 5, 2024, sent to the company Feb 7, 2024, published by CPSC Feb 22, 2024

The product, in the report: Bluestar 36” dual fuel range

We purchased a very expensive BlueStar dual fuel range, and quickly discovered that the ignition delays by ten seconds and then shoots up a mushroom cloud of flame if lit on high, and is even scary on low. I contacted BlueStar and they said just to light it on the simmer setting. This is a a serious safety issue—the stovetop has 25k BTU burners—and if someone staying at my house doesn’t know, or god forbid a child touches it, someone could get very badly hurt. They seem not to care, and just told me it was designed that way. But if that were really the case, I would think that you shouldn’t even be able to light it on high. I have owned several different gas ranges of different quality and expense, and have never had something like this happen before.

Made Jul 2, 2013, sent to the company Jul 11, 2013, published by CPSC Jul 25, 2013

The product, in the report: 30 inch inwall oven

Blue star is the brand of oven

    Model is a 30 inch wall oven model # B030AGS serial # 0906223

Purchased on Sep 5th 2012 but was not installed until late Jan 2013 due to delays in kitchen remodel

Purchased from Fixtures Living 9340 Dowdy Dr, San Diego CA 92126

Luckily no one has been hurt by this oven, we do not use it at this time we would be risking getting burned injuring our kids or even having this oven cause a fire that destroys our home .

The current main issue is that the oven shoots flames from the lower vent holes when we turn it on along with a strong gas and fume smell that give you a head ache and burn your throat.

The trouble with this oven began the day we tried to plug it into the outlet, it would blow the circuit breaker, we had Nutter Appliance come out and they repaired the faulty wiring. Then we tried to use the broiler and discovered that it would not light. Once I opened the doors I had a ball of flame shoot out from the interior of the oven. Nutter was called out again the same thing happened to [REDACTED] the tech from Nutter, he discovered a bad broiler fan and ordered some replacement parts for it, they came back a few days later and replaced the parts.

Then we got a recall notice not to use the oven, that up to this point it had never been used due strong fumes and smell of gas that occur when it is turned on. After the recall was fixed which then we tried to use it no change in odors or fumes I was told by [REDACTED] from Blue star the oven needed a burn off to be done after following his instructions the issue continues we have had nutter appliance at least 7 times and the issue continues

During this whole time I have been calling regularly and emailing with little to no response from Blue Star and almost weekly calls to Nutter

I took a video of the oven to see if we could get them to see the problem I sent a copy to Nutter, Fixtures and Blue Star.

Then finally on May 6 Blue Star sent out Emails to us and Nutter that the unit would be replaced and would ship out shortly.

When I called to follow up at the end of May I was told that one of their engineers would be in town and wanted to see the issue and that the oven was ready to ship in a day or two. I agreed to have someone available for them but that meeting never happened Blue Star never called or emailed to set up a time. From that point on [REDACTED] has not returned any calls or emails. I was frustrated and called again then [REDACTED] became involved but he too did not return my calls to set up a time for their engineer to look at it. I feel they are just making excuses and are refusing to replace the oven.
