The product, in the report: Wolf 48-inch freestanding professional gas range, model GR486G-LP, configured for liquid propane (LP). It has six sealed gas burners, a griddle, and gas ovens, and it needs a 120V electrical connection for its electronic controls, igniters, and oven components. It is used for household cooking.
A Wolf 48-inch gas range (model GR486G-LP, liquid propane) began smoking inside our home while it was completely off. No burners were lit, the oven was not in use, and nothing was cooking. No one was using or touching the appliance.
A child in the home saw the smoke and alerted an adult. When the adult reached the kitchen, the range was actively smoking and there was a strong smell of gas throughout the house. The family evacuated immediately and called 911. Firefighters arrived within about three minutes, pulled the range out from the wall, disconnected its electrical supply, and shut off the gas.
A licensed electrician then inspected the wall outlet, circuit, and voltage and confirmed that the home’s electrical system was not the source of the problem. An appliance technician opened the range and found that an internal switch board had severely overheated and melted. The damage was inside an enclosed, protected area of the appliance, with melted material beneath the affected component, which indicates the failure started inside the range.
No one was injured. However, an internal electrical component overheating and melting while the appliance was off, combined with smoke and a strong gas odor, created a serious risk of fire or explosion. The kitchen is directly below a bedroom. If no one had been home, or if this had happened at night while the family was asleep, the outcome could have been severe.
The range has stayed disconnected from both power and gas since the incident and is being kept for inspection. We have video of the range smoking, video of the fire department response, and a photo of the melted internal switch board.

The product, in the report: 36” stainless steel, Wolf Range with Natural gas.
I purchased a brand new Wolf Range, Model GR366, Serial #18429606 in 2019. I hardly used the oven and now, it has been exhibiting constant delayed ignition at turn-on causing to accumulate gas in the oven and, a whoosh sound occurs right before an explosion of flames happens. On one occasion, as I opened the oven door, my face was almost burned. Thank God for fast reactions. I paid for a technician to come to our house to help resolve this issue. Per Wolf Service dept., the igniter needed to be replaced. Did NOT solve the issue. He was told it could be the solenoid, electronic module or gas pressure. He replaced both parts and gas pressure was fine. STILL NOT RESOLVED. The technician is at a loss. I noticed MANY consumers reported the GR366 here having the exact SAME issue. If Wolf Appliances, Inc is very committed to SAFETY, they should take our complaints VERY seriously and resolve this common safety issue before someone gets seriously injured! I’ve spent over $700 .00 to try to resolve what is apparently a manufacturer’s defect.

The product, in the report: WOLF stove R304
I have WOLF stove R304 to my horror, the fan(convection/cooling) self started while the switch is on the off position . Nothing was being used and no one was around the stove. Heard a noise and noted the fan on, the light on. Moving the button up and / or down did nothing. Within 3 minutes of hearing the fan running, I noticed dark smoke and a horrific smell come from the area of the switch. Something charred.

The product, in the report: Wolf Range R304 serial #17233022, 4 burner gas stove
I purchased a Wolf range R304 serial # 17233022 on April 27, 2011. The first outreach was within months to report clicking of the igniters during burn. After some back and forth, Wolf replaced the surface ignitor 15 months later 7/17/2013. I expressed great concern about the integrity of the appliance. Asked if there were any reported issues for igniters to which they answered no. Then 6 months later 2/22/13 the broil igniter reported and replaced. Again serviced 11/5/2013. Again 4/12/16. Again 5-10-16. Igniter issue again 2019 forced the fire department to disconnect the stove. They gave me a paper for service technician to complete and return to the station once the appliance had been repaired. Service came out and found nothing at the time. He reconnected it and stated he didn’t need to report to the fire department that it was reconnected. Again 3/7/2022 igniter issues reported and 3/12 fire department disconnected it. Reported to Wolf and service was scheduled over a month out so I had another company service 3/17/22. The technician found a faulty burner for the broiler, the oven and the middle cylinder for the bottom of the stove had a large hole in it from a small explosion. I reported this with pictures to Wolf and their solution was to offer a discount for me to purchase a new one. I communicated that spending another $5,000 for a stove that has not lived up to its expectations is not an option. They reported that since the unit was purchased years ago they cannot do anything more than offer a discount for another purchase. I explained at that time that it seems like they tried to outlive this option by providing free repairs. A year almost to the day 3/11/2023 the fire department had to come out again and detach the stove. The range top igniter was crackling and popping without it being used (no flame). My daughter thought someone was cooking and realizing that was not the case so she walked over to see. The same igniter repeated the noise and then popped “like a mini explosion” in her face. Fearful, she called the fire department and they detached it from the gas with instructions to have it replaced because of its history posing a safety hazard. Through out the life of the stove I continuously communicated with Wolf expressing my concern and discontent. The first signs of defect I asked them to replace it thinking it was a “lemon”. They encouraged me it was ok and provided free service. The stove struggles to perform its basic functions. Upon my research, igniters are supposed to have a life expectancy of 8 years. Obviously not the case for this stove. I have multiple case numbers on file after the warranty expired for each event where Wolf provided support. Case[REDACTED]. I also learned on 3/17/2023 that Wolf has a long history of igniter issues and reported recalls of another model. I have kept a running tab of incidents and outreach over the years including emails.

I was cooking on my Wolf CT30GS 30” Gas Cooktop serial number 11260632. I was simmering rice on the left front burner and stirring a sauce on low on the right front burner when there was an explosion. The cooktop lifted up off the counter as well as the pots and pans. Flames shot out through the two burners. My first thought was, “I’m glad I didn’t catch fire.” I shut the stove off and opened the cabinets underneath the cooktop, and it smelled of natural gas. I did an internet search of Wolf cooktop explosions, and several complaints were found that reported explosions when the burner is set to simmer.

The product, in the report: Wolf 5 burner cook to LP Gas
On September 22,2020 my wife was preparing supper using our Wolf cooktop Model CT36G LP Serial number 11056522 when it exploded within inches from where she was standing . The force of the explosion was significant blowing 5 dials into the air. We had no idea what caused the explosion but we were concerned about our safety . We. turned off the gas and exited immediately . The next day a certified Wolf technician examined- the cooktop and determined that the the burner bases have caps that are held on with nuts that are not welded - 2 of the nuts migrated spontaneously and dropped into the L/R burner venturi causing gas to back up into the internal cavity of cooktop causing the explosion

The product, in the report: Wolf 36” Gas cooktop model CT36
I have a Wolf 36” CT36” propane fueled cooktop. When using the cooktop on simmer it has historically made popping noises as the flame goes on and off. However it has now escalated to the point where the cooktop exploded due to a build up of leaking gas underneath the cooktop. The entire cooktop dislodged from the counter, all burners knobs and grates and food was projected through the air. i was struck by metal grates, and hot food. The unit was used in a normal fashion. I suffered minor burns and bruises from the hot food, flame and metal grates. Wolf sent out a repairman today and finally took payment responsibility. The repairman told me the unit is not safe to use as is and needs gaskets as the old ones leaked. Regardless of age, a product should not be designed and sold that allows normal use to result in it exploding and potentially killing an owner. This is simply unacceptable and i see i am not the first person to file such a complaint here. Additionally, i see dozens of similar complaints on the internet. Why there is no recall on this unit is beyond me. They need to do it before someone is even more seriously hurt than i was. see attached for other such incidents: [REDACTED]

Incident Description Wolf Gas Range and Oven Model R364G
Bought home in 2011, and prior owner bought the home new from a builder so all appliances were new. We have never been able to use the broiler feature, without fear. A delayed explosion goes off every time, and we rarely use the Broiler because of it. What happens is when we turn the setting to Broil, the glow plug turns orange right away, then, 60 to 90 seconds later, a whoosh sound, then an explosion, with the door popping open a bit, with some flames. I called a Wolf Certifed appliance repairman when this happened, he said that the igniter needed to be replaced. I have had the igniter replaced by a Wolf certified technician and the issue has not gone away. My hand was burned last night when the oven had a delayed explosion.
Clearly this oven needs to be replaced and not repaired as the repair did not fix this dangerous problem with the oven. We are very afraid to use our Wolf Range for fear and anticipation of the explosion, and/or getting burned again by the delayed ignition of the broiler.

The product, in the report: Wolf gas range
On two occasions in March 2016 I experienced delayed gas ignition on a Wolf range, model GR366, serial # 11406361.
When the broiler was turned on there was no ignition but gas continued to be emitted and built up until the broiler was turned off. There was a clear risk of an explosion if I had not turned off the broiler.
A Wolf technician was called and confirmed the problem which was a defective thermostat.

The product, in the report: 36” 5-burner cooktop
Two of the burners leak gas into the base cabinet when used on the ‘simmer’ settings. This was discovered when the gas ignited, making a loud noise and blowing the cabinet drawers open. I have since discovered there is a known defect with sealing O-rings between the burners and the cooktop base pan. The manufacturer has been unresponsive in dealing with this safety exposure.

The product, in the report: Model R364G
Wolf Range Model R364G.
Bought a home in 2013 with a Wolf Range. The range was purchased new by the previous owner in 2003.
We have attempted to use the broiler several times since 2013. Each time we try to use the broiler, flames shoot out of the top of the oven door about 2-3 inches as the broiler ignites. The last attempt to use the broiler was in December, 2014.
A local Wolf service company technician was called to fix the problem. The technician contacted Wolf Service and performed tests including cleaning the gas orifice and measuring the current to the igniter. The gas orifice was clean and the igniter current was within the acceptable range. The next step is for the technician to replace the igniter.
The Wolf Range still shoots flames when the broiler is turned on.
I have found several recalls regarding Wolf Ranges and similar delayed ignition issues: CPSC Release #08-391 CPSC Release #02-022
I am afraid to use my Wolf Range because I fear getting burned by the delayed ignition of the broiler.

The product, in the report: 36” Wolf 6 burner, red knob, stainless steel LP Range, serial number: 11154850 Model R366 LP
I bought a home in 2005 with a brand new 36” Wolf LP Range. Model R366-Lp When I use the oven the room fills with gas smell, and once at it’s temp., if it needs to re-ignite the is a VERY large explosion, and even though the door is very heavy, it blows the door open 4 to 6 inches.
I have paid for new igniter, and gas valve, I am into this $450.00 in repairs. Even my repairman is at a loss. There seems to be nothing more that can be done.
I have also checked with my propane provider and they affirm that the tank is full and properly pressurized. Also when the oven is on, sometimes the burners have difficulty lighting, or the all 6 spark as though they are trying to ignite.

The product, in the report: Wolf Oven/Range. 30’’
The 30’’ oven takes 15-20 minutes to ignite, and when it does there is a loud “WOOSH” sound and the oven door blows open an inch or two. Sometimes, the burners on top aren’t fully lit...as if there is too much air in the propane mix, and the burners will keep trying to ignite. I do not want to have the oven blow flames out of the oven door or something like that. I don’t know if that would happen, but I don’t want to take a chance.

The product, in the report: Wolf Gas Range Model #: AS30KI-1 30” Gas Range and Oven Stainless Steel
Wolf Gas Range and Oven Model #: AS30KI-1
When I turn on the oven or the broiler, it doesn’t ignite for 5-10 minutes, then it finally ignites with a loud whoosh and large fireball. The door will pop open when this happens. Other times, the fireball occurred as I was opening the door to check for broiler ignition, nearly burning me in the face and hands.
I have called the manufacturer about this problem, but they indicated my model wasn’t under recall, though it exhibits the exact same symptoms of the recalled models. They refused to compensate me for fixing the problem, and advised me not to use the broiler or oven until I paid to have it fixed.

The product, in the report: 48” Gas Range
The consumer says the ignition is delayed causing gas to accumulate. when the gas does ignite a huge fireball occurs. She says if the door is open it could cause a huge fire in her home. The consumer contacted the retailer who offered to send out a technician for a fee of $120, not including repairs. She says this started a couple of months ago but it has gotten worse.

The product, in the report: Wolf Gas Range Model R304 Serial Number 11052463
When I turn on the gas to the range, it takes approximately 10 minutes for it to ignite. When it does ignite it does with a loud whoosh...and opens the door to the oven about an inch. This has gotten worse over time. In the beggining it just took time to ignite. Now it has become dangerous. I cannot use the burners on the stovetop until the oven is fully pre-heated. If I try and do so they will blow a mixture of gas and air and not fully light causing the igniters to click continuously. The stovetop issue has been going on since I purchased the range in 2003 and have had 4 repair calls on it. The oven has had one repair call on it. I moved from the repair area almost 5 years ago and there is not a person in my area who works on this product. I am in contact now with Wolf and they are attempting to find someone who is qualified in my area to try and repair this product. I am reporting this to make sure that you are aware of this and if others have had the same issue that possibly a recall may be in order.
